It is worth noting there is a newer Frodo version and a VICE version. The author tells me they are about to release a "RED PILL" source for VICE soon. This is the extra hooks that FRODO version has in it to drive the GUI, however he won't release the GUI code, just the VICE updates. I'm not sure which version of VICE it is built against though.

Any chance there will be a Vice 3 version of it? Or even better, having it being a regular plugin to Vice so it could be started as an alternative to the monitor...

One of the most important tools for the C64 (emulator) and C64 related coding ever. Cannot imagine how i was able to work without it.
