Summary
Submitted by enthusi on 3 February 2017
The Tapecart ist a hardware for the cassport of the C64.
It contains a 2 MB Flash memory.
The firmware provides a full API to address data freely and read or write from/to the flash.
The initial loader is triggered as soon as you use the kernal LOAD command (i.e. SHIFT + RUN/STOP).
With blank screen (no DMA/IRQ) it loads at about 10 kb/s, otherwise the transfer speed is about 2.5 kb/s.
All relevant information will become public and open.
You can flash individual onefilers or full data sets with the flashtool Flashtool V1.1
In the near future a directory structure and file system will likely be implemented in software.
The first 100 of these units came with an extensive slideshow of 250 multicolor bitmaps. Sources for the part of the code that handled the loading are available at one of the given links.
