I noticed that myself. Original game saves player stats, bullets, screen location etc to a sector on .g64. This only happens when disk drive idles for 10 seconds. The g64 I was handed is different on this sector because of this. But, I don't know if that explains the difference.
This ONS version does not save to disk. And it does not load that sector from disk either. Hnmm, so maybe that's why.

On the 'original' there is a coin to be collected on the 1st screen. On this version (trainer on or off) there is no coin.
