| I sent this game to El Cid / MSI over the modem for him to crack. He had me reset my C64 at certain points while loading the game and then had me save out memory. Once he understood what the protection was doing, he then sent me a little tool he wrote specifically for this game that extracted all the content off the disk (both sides). I sent him the raw data, and from there he fully cracked it. I've never seen a USA cracker work out side the box like this before and was very impressed. I had many opportunities to do this same style of cracking with other crackers, but El Cid was the only one to take the challenge. When we uploaded this game to the ESI BBSes before they cracked it, they were floored. I'm sure Mitch could have beaten us if he hadn't become so comfortable, but with so little competition, it's understandable why Mitch took his sweet time on this crack. Of course, the INC version was deleted from the ESI BBSes the next day, but the INC version was by then on every other elite BBS. |
