We don’t proclaim this loudly enough in the demo perhaps - so I should say here... the “sprite interleave” help that I thank Christopher Jam for is seen in the intro logo part of the demo. It uses a technique where the sprite values are updated every 20 pixel lines... making it easy to get a large sprite array working while the background is smooth scrolling (ie. when D011 is changing and, therefore, the bad lines are changing each frame too).

The demo was developed over a period of 4 months in 2019... alongside development on The Seniors' Rivalry demo. Raistlin's parts used in Rivalry, such as the all-border DYPP, were originally intended to be used in The Dive.

The 212-bob-scroller is a new world record... though strictly speaking, that record hasn't really been defined ... it can be beaten of course by using a smaller font, or plotting to bitmap memory instead of (multiplexed) sprites, using a different sine, etc etc etc ... although we call it a "world record", it's one of those things that's very hard to measure. The scroller is fully realtime - as in, it's 100% replotted each frame - but we didn't have time to put in a variable speed control to prove that :-(

The end tune from Deek is an old tune that was rediscovered by Hedning. Never previously used as far as we know. Strictly speaking, the music isn't "finished" - but it was so good, we had to use it.
