I had four ideas for Gubbdata. It was while struggling with drawing my second idea, I thought I really should have something without text.
This idea almost immediately popped into my head, the title came a few hours later.
I did a quick sketch, but after that let it rest for a while, not convinced I could finish it in time.
About a week before the deadline this had become my favorite idea by far. I had been reading my Peanuts and Calvin and Hobbes albums for style-inspiration.
Also after the first strip I made I wanted to have a drwaing where the 320x200 edge wasn't so obvious.
I had a week off to work on my new home, but used some of that time to work on this strip. I even did some drawing sitting on the concrete floor of my empty house.
Smasher assured me he could put it all together in time so all I needed to do was get the drawings ready in time.
I don't consider myself a true pixel artist, but getting the expressions right (at least to my liking) was pretty precise pixeling work.
I'm pleased with the result. It could be better, but I think I've improved. |
