My best guess at this point is that these conversions must be some sort of long running weird statement against ripping graphics in the demoscene...

I didn't really get why you posted all that Production Info, only stating you did some steps in Photoshop before you fed the pic to Mufflon converter. It neither makes it any less a convert nor is it breaking news that stuff like scaling can/should be done before converting.

Really looking 4wd to some real art by you.

Nice, erh, oh well. The tree is a midget, [prompt] and the tall guy is almost at the 1800:eds streetlight [Prompt]. There is a small bird ontop of the streetlight, but not looking [Prompt].
To be honest I don't get it at all. But I like the fog and was reminded of the fact how much I prefer random dithering these days.
