LOL! Well, you use IFLI-type linewise interlace, mine uses alternating checkerboard colors, which flickers much less. Since you use one color less thanks to linewise switching, that's just the lacking spritecolor and the reason why this works out fairly well without sprites. What you did here was pretty much the inverse of what we did with the IFLIs in Crest Slide Story, only one level higher (hires interlace)! ;-) And as you know that transition also worked out really well, but ours just flickers less! ;-D

Get yourself a monitor that actually shows flickering and you'll see the difference! 8)

yes, i am drunk off my ass. and yes, i will probably regret this in the morning. even now i can see the colour is not right in this. because i sacrificed it for not flicking like a motherfucker on monitors that are not mine.

also, i was too drunk to make my nuifli code work, but then i realised it didn't matter because actually iafli looks better on my tv. ymmv. but that's kinda my point - if i can do this in ten drunk minutes in iafli, dk should be able to do way, way better in muifli. scratch that, i know he can, it was dk's shifli pictures that inspired me to write this code in the first place.

don't even bother without at least palemu, and preferably real thing.
