I'd like to thank everyone for their responses to His Pearl. You really, truly, humbled me. A few clarifications about some valid points that have been raised:
@"Demo"-ness of soundtrack: true enough :), I think it's there because of the concept... going through eight different "emotions" (plus transitions) easily translates into seven demo parts + ending in a trackmo. Not done on purpose, though. Next time, I'll try half the emotions for half the tune length and half the demo-ness, but with double the instruments and patterns per emotion. Win-win ;)
@Conrad: it's not a bug :), I swept the volume up/down a few times at 1'21" to spice up the transition, like a DJ occasionally does during a groove at his mix table.
@Randall: in my case, it's okay to go on, I'm oldskool and value (constructive) criticisms :).
Jammer, in response to your comment here: I don't think they're "grades" in the traditional sense but rankings - everyone who voted had to order their personal top ten. So if a tune gets a "1" or a "2", that doesn't mean the voter thought that the tune is so badly executed that it deserves a 1/10 or 2/10, it means the voter thought the tune to be the 10th or 9th best tune of the competition. Which isn't bad at all, considering there were 26 good tunes to choose from this year. |

I wanted to leave the tune uncredited because it's a big chance that it will participate in january cover compo and also to protect the innocent. The full credits goes to 3 musicians btw. |

one 'detail' - fanta should be also included into the list of participants. even though he was disqualified, he made his contribution, didn't he? :P |

A nice event as always. What pleased me the most this year was that it managed to shake me up from inactivity to actually start working on my stuff again.
Thumbs up! |

there are a couple of very nice tunes in there, most of em from #13-#16 or so and the rest scattered around the rest of the positions ;)
I didn't care to vote as I disliked the voting system. When tunes drop in, I want to be able to give it rating right away (from 1-10) and not go through the hassle of sorting votes (and afaik there is no way to give 2+ tunes the same rating).
When a tune drops in, I want to vote for it and forget about it.
That said, thanks for organizing the sidcompo again, creamdog, it's the highlight of november ;) |

Jammer. Could it be personal animosities? ;-) Anyway, in general, the grades seems ok to me. |

what a strange grades. many tunes, even those ranked higher in the compo, got here ridiculous 3,4 and 5s. wtf? |

I think "His Pearl" should have won, and "Girls 'n' Ghosts" should be #2 |
