Will there be a music disc?

Damnit! I missed the chance to downvote Pyjammer...

But seriously 11 votes online? Mixer was right, no need for external voting system nowadays.

I guess a bit harder decision is whether the prize should be based on 'public votes' or 'CSDb ranking' ;)

Submitted by Richard on 3 November 2014
Rankings now corrected, I had a slight mixup with the spreadsheet. Only 11 people voted.

Ouch... Harvest #1

Now, that's some discrepancy between CSDb and votesheets :O How many people voted?

User Comment

Votes have been counted and results revealed!

User Comment

Oh cool, still two days to down vote Jammer for being such an egoass ;D

Just vote a 1 by your own tunes

?!? Do you mean it's actually better *not* to vote for participants ?!?
Or will you take the self-votes out of the calculation anyway? If not, wouldn't it be better to restrict self-voting to vote 10 for oneself to motivate people to vote?

User Comment
Submitted by Richard on 4 October 2014
No. Just vote a 1 by your own tunes. :)

User Comment
Submitted by Jammer on 4 October 2014
Are contestants allowed to vote? Option of blank vote is not really available ;]

User Comment
Submitted by Richard on 4 October 2014
Submissions are now closed. Huge thank you to everybody who has entered the compo. The voting form is now -live-. Visit the Tape Loader Compo page, and click the link and keep voting. You have until October 31st 2014 to vote scores (1-10) on each tune :) Good luck!

Ah, didn't notice extended deadline ;)

User Comment

Time for voting phase or what? :P

User Comment

I really like the many different approaches to a game "tape loader tune" awesome tunes. eventhough some of them would never fit as a loader tune because of CPU and/or memory usage. who would wait extra to loade a game, just to run multispeed or why fill up the memory with a tune when we need to load a game? Good thing we are in 2014 and people dont expect to make a living from this ;-)

Two uploaded. Maybe I should up a 3rd?

User Comment
Submitted by Scarzix on 25 September 2014
and here I sat sweating with Kick-Assembler trying to get my old Offence playerrutine to work with two small intro tunes... ffs! :-)

Deadline has NOW been extended until Thursday next week. This will give me plenty of time to get the voting form ready on Friday and set it live on Saturday.

User Comment
Submitted by Hate Bush on 24 September 2014
if you, maybe, generously extend the deadline to the month's end, i'll deliver a second entry - which i already have in the making, but can't devote any time to it until Monday. but of course the decision's yours :)

Feel free to do fine recordings of the tunes and host them on your site. I don't mind this. ;)

User Comment
Submitted by Xiny6581 on 16 September 2014
Need real fine hardware recordings?
Ring my bell :P and I'll host them on my site, as I did with some other online compos! :)

User Comment
Submitted by Richard on 16 September 2014
Updated, as 26th September was the actual deadline :)

User Comment
Submitted by Jammer on 16 September 2014
Richard, do you realize that compo deadline is set to October? ;) By mistake?

User Comment
Submitted by Richard on 16 September 2014
Huge thank your to all the entrants for your tunes for the compo. Only about 10 days to go before the deadline.

BTW. Please let me know if you guys are happy for me to use your loader tune compo entries for tape mastering of the next CF Power Pack project at http://www.commodoreformatarchive.com. :)

Great compo! Great entries - I like them all!

Listening to this 'minimalistic' tunes (made just to fulfill the awaiting time during tape loading) relaxes me. Beside this John Motherfuckin' Rambo tune ofcoz, which is for freaks who just want to kill everybody on the earth ;-)
Yeah, but I must admit sometimes John has to enter the scene and kill some bastards...

Really great entries so far... looking forward to hearing more! :)

User Comment
Submitted by Jammer on 8 September 2014
Not too busy around here ;)

User Comment
Submitted by celticdesign on 5 September 2014
I am pretty sure that Richard will allow it. If not he should adjust the rules one more time ;-)

User Comment
Submitted by Scarzix on 5 September 2014
The rules didn't mention CheeseCutter, so unfortunately, I couldn't participate :-D

User Comment
Submitted by FATFrost on 3 September 2014
Wtf. This compo should more entries than a porn star... ;) !

User Comment
Submitted by Dr.j on 3 September 2014
i wonder why Stinsen tune rated a bit low than i
expected

User Comment

I think what Zyron ment was that it's hard to make the tune _exactly_ 4K. At least if all contained data is supposed to be used by the player. I.e it was a joke. ;)

User Comment
Submitted by Richard on 1 September 2014
>Nice compo idea. :)
>How about multiple entries, allowed?

Multiple entries are okay. 3 max please ;)

User Comment
Submitted by Richard on 31 August 2014
The 4K max has now been ruled out ;)

User Comment
Submitted by Zyron on 30 August 2014
I think this particular size-specific rule could be a problem: "Tune size must be 4K" ;)

How about multiple entries, allowed?

I checked this with Richard.

If the winning tune used Music Studio from this link Music Studio 2.1.0.7 then I'll send the composer GBP 50 via pay pal. To prove MS was used they'll need to send the original msmus file to me for verification and nominate a pay pal account to send to.

Just a quick rule update, concerning the playing time ...

- The playing time of the tune should be at the most approximately 3 minutes. Some loader tunes, like the Ocean Loader 5 plays for just about that amount of time :)

Here are the rules in full :)

Do you remember the good old days, where you used to visit the newsagents and at a cheap cost, you bought a C64 tape or a magazine cover tape and loaded your program and the tape loader has music playing during the process of loading the data? Do you think you can compose something quite similar? If the answer is YES, then welcome to the TAPE LOADER TUNE COMPO 2014, where we go one step further into tape loading in the 21st Century..... DIGITALLY :)

The aim of the music competition is simply to compose a tune which would be suitable to listen to when loading a game from tape or disk. The music can be composed in any editor (Goat Tracker, DMC, VoiceTracker, Future Composer, Music Assembler, Music Mixer, SYNC, etc...) Here come the simple rules:

- Music must be your own work and may be composed with any C64 music editor (Or Goat Tracker) of your choice (or programmed if you are really up for the challenge). You may use your existing presets / instruments if you want to.

- NO COVERS/REMIXES of existing loader tunes or other tunes.

- The playing time of the tune should be at the most 2 minutes

- Since the tune is a loading tune, after finishing, it should loop.

- You are WELCOME to use your tunes on your own programs during the competition AFTER it appears as an entriy

- Tune size must be 4K.

- Tunes will be recorded from VICE in MP3 format exclusively for this Compo page.

- As well as PRG, please also submit SID and declare which SID version was used.

- Closing for entries date is 26th September 2014 and voting will be done via vote sheet, like with the SEUCK Compo 2014.

- There's no prizes, and who knows, maybe there might be a music collection built up :)

- Submissions can either be E-Mailed to me at my usual EMAIL address

Good luck. Happy composing!

The aim of this competition is to compose some music in which would suit a tape loader (or maybe a disk loader for a demo part).

Rules:

- Music must be your own work and may be composed with any music editor (or programmed if you are really up for the challenge)

- The playing time of the tune should be at the most 2 minutes

- Since the tune is a loading tune, after finishing, it should loop.

- You are WELCOME to use your tunes on your own programs during the competition AFTER it appears in the entries.

- Tune size must be 4K.

- Closing date is 26th September 2014 and voting will be done via vote sheet, like with the SEUCK Compo 2014.

- There's no prizes, and who knows, maybe there might be a music collection built up :)

Good luck. Happy composing!
