Having 32 speed etc would give the approximate sample rate of 1.6khz. The idea to force using low updates (4 updates per frame) is to ensure that the recreation of the samples occur via sid oscillators only (altough feel free adding a low frequency fully flexible channel at 200hz using $d418 or other methods

Why the rule "Maximum update must be quad speed (data updated only 4 times per frame max)" ???
If people can squeeze the whole sample into the c64 ram and replay at higher rate, why not ?

With the recent talk and action in regards to speech synthesis using sid waveforms and my frodigi1-4 series as well as cyberbrains hardware accelerated samples demo. Lets start a competition. :-)

Lets learn idea's from each other in the process, after all it is all about strengthing the scene and showing the other rivals (well if you can class speccy as one :-))

First a few rules.

Maximum update must be quad speed (data updated only 4 times per frame max)

Can use any method (as long as it is not updated any more than 4 times per frame)

Filesize is not important, but must fit in the c64's ram

can update more than one register more than once per update (in particular if dealing with sustain adjustment methods. but actual data must be a section per update only

It must not be manually created.

And more importantly. The below data source must be used only

https://www.dropbox.com/s/jqgy8mfo9jyjlx0/loop02.wav?dl=0

The above data can be processed in any way deem fit, but.. a very important but. it must preserve as best as possible the audio, that includes basslines, speech, drums and instrument. Timbre is not too important but a plus.

The above source contains bassline, drums, chords and speech.

Deadline for competition is 25/12/2014

Data to be released when sent to me, please indicate new or old sid.
