@Frantic: Oh noes, don't send Moloch after me again, pleeeease! ;) I think, meanwhile I got it, but keep reminding me if I forget any IIs ;)
BTT: Still, this entry rocks and back then had already somehow determined my personal decision to have a PETSCII competition this year. | User Comment Submitted by Frantic on 29 August 2013
@TheRyk: For fucks sake! Do I have to send Moloch at ya again to point out that it is spelled PETSCII <- Note two "II".

Very cool, both the skull and the mermaid, especially her hair. The music fits the mood of the picture perfectly too! | User Comment Submitted by NecroPolo on 1 May 2013 User Comment Submitted by TheRyk on 8 April 2013
I find the definition "if you can print it" quite handy.
BTT: However, PETSCI or not (I like PETSCI), I find this one quite kewl :) | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 7 April 2013
you came up with a completely unrelated term, not me :)
and i already ignored the apparent drama after that. there is little point to discuss what basically is personal taste afterall. or writing a lengthy blurb on how your taste is superior to someone elses for that matter =P | User Comment Submitted by wacek on 7 April 2013
Read the text below again, replace "zoom4" with "text gfx using char quarters" or whatever you like, and for once in your life comment on anything else besides one utterly insignificant detail. Can you handle that? | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 7 April 2013
"No offence hitmen guys but you're confusing PETSCII with zoom4 graphics."
not at all. zoom4 is just another name for 4by4 fli and tyrons stuff has zero to do with it really. if you can PRINT it, then its petscii. really. | User Comment Submitted by wacek on 7 April 2013
No offence hitmen guys but you're confusing PETSCII with zoom4 graphics. Using zoom4 in text mode as pixels is one thing, doing PETSCII when you utilize much more than just "checker" chars is something entirely different, a challenge that can give more resolution. And I personally fucking hate zoom4 gfx (the reason being probably the outburst of stupid fake demos utilising that mode in the late 90s).
The difference in output is that you can look at PETSCII from 1-2 meters, but you have to move to other postcode to enjoy Tyron's zoom4 art. There is really not much difference between 'typical' pixelling and making zoom4 pictures (just that the resolution sucks ass). And doing proper PETSCII is entirely diferent workflow. You'd understand upon actually doing it, not drooling over your groupmate's work (which is good in it's own universe, but does not impress me for above mentioned reasons), or just being nostalgic over the whole bbs thing.
This is not to convince you of anything (since it's too cold for pigs to fly anytime soon), only just so you know other viewpoints exist.

"By the way, please note that there is no 2 screen editor for PETSCII."
lolwot? try eg Tyronpaint V2.1. and look here for some more "doublescreen" petscii =)
being spoiled by tyrons masterpieces forever, i dont think this one is very good, sorry :) | User Comment Submitted by muh on 7 April 2013
Nice piece, has a certain adventure-like atmosphere. And that for a petscii ;) | User Comment Submitted by uka on 7 April 2013
Hair! Wacki, poprostu do*ebałeś.. | User Comment Submitted by leonofsgr on 6 April 2013
my favorite character in the graphic. (basic adventure game rulez: _)
love it. | User Comment Submitted by Sphinx on 6 April 2013
really cute motif and good execution...i miss a little bit the lower jaw of the skull ;-) | User Comment Submitted by Yazoo on 6 April 2013
this brings something from the revision party live-stream to my mind:
"pixels bigger than your car - plz watch from very far" - and thats exactly it :)
i am not an PETSCII fan for life, but this one is well executed, and i like the motif with the mermaid sticking her finger into the skulls eye ;-) *ouch*
well done | User Comment Submitted by wacek on 6 April 2013
@Cruzer: well, colouring PETSCII in standard text mode is difficult, if you have big shapes. You have to make a choice between colours/shades and blockiness, and for this one I made priority on shades ;) I need to try PETSCII in ECM mode one day, which is featured in the editor that I used, and would allow less blocky, triangle-based colour transitions.
By the way, please note that there is no 2 screen editor for PETSCII. It is not just a question of a setting bigger canvas on your fav pc-based editor, as with hires or multi. I needed to work on 2 separate text screens, and on the real hardware because doing PETSCII on pc keyboard just makes no bloody sense ;)
Anyway, my general aim was to do something in a mode that nobody else would use :) | User Comment Submitted by The Shadow on 6 April 2013 User Comment Submitted by Cruzer on 5 April 2013
PETSCII is cool, but there's a little too much 8x8 mode about this. | User Comment Submitted by spider-j on 5 April 2013
