i've added a "Standard Project Rem V2" now with my vice.ini file in the tools subdir - maybe you should give that a try | User Comment Submitted by DrHonz on 10 February 2016
oh dear - Groepaz - with my WinVice it works perfectly well - and i've tested it a lot - shall i publish my vice.ini here - maybe there is something hidden in there | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 10 February 2016
it does not work in VICE either with true drive emulation enabled and virtual device traps off (as it should be *sigh*). | User Comment Submitted by DrHonz on 10 February 2016
moin Stainless Steel - if there was one i was unable to find it - so can you point it out to me - but it's a guess - as already stated - i cannot remember which version i took - this is the reason why i have included the d64 file in the sources | User Comment Submitted by Stainless Steel on 10 February 2016
Wasnt there an original available to work with ? Why "distill" it from a cracked version ? | User Comment Submitted by DrHonz on 10 February 2016
moin Fred - that may be possible - but the truth is that i simply do not know anymore - but this may be useful information though - so i'll try to mention the base releases in my next projects
another thing is: before i start i try to remove as much 'foreign' code as possible to distill binaries which - in my opinion - are as close as possible to their commercial version | User Comment Submitted by Fred on 10 February 2016
This is based on the Megabyte crack: Boulder Dash II
The original doesn't have Megabyte mentioned on the title screen. | User Comment Submitted by DrHonz on 10 February 2016
moin Digger - no - that would be of course a small sensation - but alas - they were reverse engineered and commented be me only | User Comment Submitted by Digger on 9 February 2016
Are these source files original? That'd be awesome if they were :) | User Comment Submitted by Mclane on 9 February 2016
Hi DrHonz, I have a suspicion this is only going to work on Vice and not real hardware, that's why I asked what it had been dev'ed on. I'm a multi retro machine bloke and one old machine I love is the Atari 8 bit (yeah, boo hiss) and a few devs used an old emulator to dev on, result, not work on real hardware or emulators that were very very high on accurate emulation.
Easy thing to happen, I know all about the real hardware packed away, sadly lost ALL my C64 stuff when it was stored at my late mothers.
As said, like what I saw of the game, thanks... | User Comment Submitted by DrHonz on 9 February 2016
Still forgotten to mention - there ara some new gam commands available in combination with CTRL (tab on WinVice)
CTRL+N - Next cave
CTRL+C - Convert all amoeba to diamonds
CTRL+K - Kill all enemies
CTRL+U - Lives to Max (9)
CTRL+T - Time to 250
CTRL+V - Cave overview (fire for end)
CTRL+<+> - Increase GameSpeed
CTRL+<-> - Decrease GameSpeed
See the "Changes.txt" in the sources for all implemented features | User Comment Submitted by DrHonz on 9 February 2016
hey Mclane - yes it's tested on WinVice only - i still have my old c64 hardware available - but down in the cellar and never to be used again - that could of course be a problem | User Comment Submitted by Mclane on 9 February 2016
Hi DrHonz, got eventually to work on VICE 2.4 but still refuses to work on Hoxs64, can I ask if this was written and tested on WinVice ie emulator created rather than real hardware?
Its just Hoxs64 is cycle exact and never had a real problem except for Carts which it was never originally going to support.
But I enjoyed what I saw in Winvice..
Cheers. | User Comment Submitted by DrHonz on 9 February 2016
what i've done with this release is the following:
1 - create commented source codes for the first three versions of the Boulder Dash game
2 - Modify the sources so that the assembled game is able to detect and play level data files of all three versions automatically by loading the correct engine in correspondence to the level file ending | User Comment Submitted by DrHonz on 9 February 2016
hey Jammer - no - i'm older than peter :( | User Comment Submitted by DrHonz on 9 February 2016
hey Mclane - yes it should work - maybe it's because the parm "Virtual Device Traps" in the settings isn't active - if i remove the hook the game fails immediately | User Comment Submitted by Jammer on 9 February 2016
DrHonz - are you Peter's son? ;) Now that's some nice legacy :) | User Comment Submitted by LMan on 9 February 2016
I so wanted the construction kit as a kid. I phoned retailers all over Germany, nobody had it.
Had to wait until Internet Age to get my hands on it :D | User Comment Submitted by Mclane on 9 February 2016
Does it work?
Crashes here on VICE and HOXS64 if you press fire or SPACE.. | User Comment Submitted by hedning on 8 February 2016
Deleted crappy screenshot, and added a good one. | User Comment Submitted by DrHonz on 8 February 2016
Long time no see - so here are some sources and a new release for the seemingly most referenced c64 game |
