Hehe, yeah, the CPX stuff should be obvious, bit of a "it's me"/copyright protection :)
As for $d017 stretching, you'd end up with 19 pixel high sprites vs proper 21 pixels.
And I was hoping to get more splits in there, with 6 sprites at every line you'd be wasting a lot of cycles, though I suppose the cycle wasting at each line also takes a lot of cycles better used with multiple routines for each Y-movement frame.
There's a reason we never released this "back in the day" :) | User Comment Submitted by Digger on 25 November 2018
Haha there's in fact a lot of CPX instructions to stabilise this stuff. Would $d017 sprite stretching be not enough for this effect? Pretty smart solution with BPL timing skip anyway :) | User Comment Submitted by Joe on 25 November 2018 User Comment Submitted by nucleus on 25 November 2018 User Comment Submitted by Compyx on 24 November 2018
Whoever added the music credit: thanks. I noticed it was a JCH player, but there's quite a few tunes using that player. | User Comment Submitted by ChristopherJam on 24 November 2018
Nice! Now, bounce the rasters :) | User Comment Submitted by Golara on 24 November 2018 User Comment Submitted by Compyx on 24 November 2018
Originally intended as one of many parts for a 1988-1989 inspired demo, the thing released as "Yesterdays" (Yesterdays) was also meant to be used for that, and had the actual title.
I figured I could use this a basis for an entry for the 16KB intro compo, but it contains way too much speedcode all over the place.
Anyway, I suppose it's better to release this old piece of shit than let it rot somewhere. Actual date would be around 1993, not 1989 which the scroll text seems to claim. |
