I used the decompression routine in my latest crack, to unpack stuff from memory on the fly. Ships Ahoy &D Didn't need the sfx option in the end, Richard, but thanks for that info!

Burglar: I don't know, I only test the sfx options for executables, probably you need to check the bitfire main repo, this is only the packer/dali directory

is there decrunch compatibility with previous versions (if yes, which), or do all loader systems need to upgrade to latest?

You're wrong! It's possible ;)

In order to use a depacker in a different location, you need to use this command:

dali.exe --relocate-sfx $xxxx --sfx $yyyy -o crunchedfile.prg inputfile.prg

Where xxxx is the address to place the crunched program with the sfx, and yyyy is the sfx jump address of your main program.

That's what I did when I added a black screen and a 1-line depack text to one of my projects. It is also possible to combine the (inc $d020) decrunch effect as well by adding this:

dali.exe --effect --relocate-sfx $xxxx --sfx $yyyy -o crunchedfile.prg inputfile.prg

Impressive! Q: the tool cannot create a self-extracting file anywhere in memory like exomizer, correct? the sfx only works from 080d?

I've provided a windows x64 exe and the altered Makefile to build it on my Mingw64. You should probably alter the acme path.
New in 0.3.4 and 0.3.5 is a option to create a short sfx with simple depacking effect.
