I do like the charset idea... it's not something that's on the immediate radar but if I do add REU support then the char editor could very likely be added at that time (ie swap out the map into REU and bring in the charset editor... edit tiles and then return to editing the map).

If it makes Cartograph a more useful all in 1 utility then I'm all for it :)

Thanks for the comments! I'm already working on updates which will have more compression support as well as the ability to generate tables of special characters (ie if you are making a mario clone you can make items such as blocks and bricks which you cannot walk through, and background items which you can walk through).

I am thinking of adding REU support and making an "undo" feature available as well.

We have started a small forum dedicated to Cartograph for those interested...
