Diverse was much more often using nick "Nephelim" than "Nephilim", so I changed his entry accordingly :) | User Comment Submitted by Joe on 29 August 2011

"Well, I'm just saying, they could have used brown and orange, purple and green or whatever."
plenty of that kinda pictures around, too :) | User Comment Submitted by Joe on 29 August 2011
Haha! You are probably right, a simple physical fact from things looking smooth to the eye on the real set and I do remember the noise, especially from the tv-sets.
Well, I'm just saying, they could have used brown and orange, purple and green or whatever. I know there were some tools part from art studio early on with a preset of two colored hires mode and just a few used the full spectrum for computer game titles. That is what intrigues me, why didn't they just use more? If you browse around any (hires) graphic-collection from the 90:ies you'd see my point.

Black + white used to look awful and make your TV buzz like a swarm of angry bees :) There was plenty of grey on grey stuff fairly early on like Rhaa Lovely 1 and 2 and various other ones I can't remember the name of atm. It was much kinder on the eyes and the ears ;) | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 29 August 2011
its obviously because of the so called "black bleeding". if you draw white on black, then single pixel vertical lines / patterns will be almost invisible on a tv/monitor. | User Comment Submitted by Mr. SID on 29 August 2011
@Joe: I always was under the impression that black on white just looked too jarring on a TV/Monitor so people naturally chose something with less contrast, to minimize pixel bleeding. | User Comment Submitted by Joe on 29 August 2011
It's actually quite fascinating to see all of those monochrome gray hires images from the 90:ies. I wonder how it came to be a style really? |
