Dr.J: Can't see Didi in the credits list. ;) Laxity is more than just Didi, you know, even if it's hard to believe sometimes. :P | User Comment Submitted by Dr.j on 18 January 2015
just wondering if the author of the game: "Michael Solomon" would beleive if the crack of the game today will raise such Controversy whether the game don't work on eumlator or does work. funny thought . nevertheless good work Didi for preserving really oldie games for retro gamers | User Comment Submitted by Goat on 17 January 2015
>> The problem still also on rh or in an emu with perfect setup.
Problem? Simply load it from drive 8 and it works... | User Comment Submitted by Flavioweb on 17 January 2015
Ok. I'm talking about this game and you are talking about "general settings" for emulators. I don't want to say you are wrong, just that this is irrelevant in this case.
The problem still also on rh or in an emu with perfect setup.
Nothing more. | User Comment Submitted by Count Zero on 16 January 2015
flavioweb: get your (and anybody else's) settings straight - disable "enable virtual devices" and enable "true drive". Those have about nothing to do with _which_ drive is connected as _whatever_ device number. (Enabling both doesn't make great sense either.)
"device traps" was the old name under windows I think (correct me whenever I am wrong). When just looking it up, it appears Linux and Windows have aligned at least here. So the option on a current 2.4.x vice goes by "enable virtual devices" and should be disabled. (It was recently turned off as default but whom of many here resets his config regularly anyhow.)
Whenever that thing is enabled multi loader games will sooner or later crash. Period. Nothing to discuss. | User Comment Submitted by The Gothicman on 16 January 2015
@Peacemaker:
Good point! :) | User Comment Submitted by Flavioweb on 16 January 2015
@CountZero: this game works only if loaded and executed from drive 8.
Loading it from another device number means that HS Saver don't works propely.
If drive 8 is disabled/disconnected, game crash. | User Comment Submitted by Count Zero on 16 January 2015
Disable device traps and use true drive emulation? | User Comment Submitted by Flavioweb on 16 January 2015
Drive device number 8 is hardcoded.
If only drive 9 or other device than 8 is enabled, error appears.
If drive 8 is enabled, but no disk inserted, game (on device 9 or other) don't crash but HS don't work correctly. | User Comment Submitted by Peacemaker on 16 January 2015
The Gothicman: wrong. errors on emu appear (randomly) because of bad coding . | User Comment Submitted by Peacemaker on 16 January 2015
why would someone switch off the drive? strange error ^^ | User Comment Submitted by The Gothicman on 16 January 2015
Hm...
Using my WinVice 2.4 it works perfectly.
However!
It seems that some emulator-errors appear randomly.
For example I'm still not able to reproduce the metioned crash in my Savage +4PDG &Map version.
On the other hand: WHO really cares?! ;) | User Comment Submitted by Goat on 16 January 2015
I just tested it again on real hardware (either with 1541U and real drive), on CCS (V3.9) and VICE (V2.4) and it always worked.
If you, however, load the game and switch off the drive before the hiscore was loaded, too, then the game will show the mentioned error as there is no drive anymore...
However: the loading of the hiscore file can be skipped by pressing "I" in the trainer menu and starting with a blank hiscore then. | User Comment Submitted by Jazzcat on 16 January 2015
If it works on real HW then interesting for Vice dev department. | User Comment Submitted by Smasher on 16 January 2015 User Comment Submitted by Peacemaker on 16 January 2015
ofcourse its interesting.. tsts | User Comment Submitted by hedning on 16 January 2015
If it works on emulators or not is not interesting. Is it working on real hw? | User Comment Submitted by Medicus on 16 January 2015
It crashes when you load highscores, it works when you init highscores. | User Comment Submitted by Peacemaker on 16 January 2015
vice 2.4.11 rev 28842M
not working | User Comment Submitted by Shine on 16 January 2015
For me works fine with "WinVICE-2.4-x86" and "CCS64 3.9" ;) ...without any errors so far. :) | User Comment Submitted by Medicus on 16 January 2015
Just remove line 33 and enter "run". Works now. | User Comment Submitted by Medicus on 16 January 2015 User Comment Submitted by Peacemaker on 16 January 2015 User Comment Submitted by Goat on 16 January 2015
