Glad you guys like it so far :) I'm happy to continue with it.

I do agree with your comments about the background. A lot of it does seem to clash with the aliens. The game will not be using bitmapped graphics anyhow, because it won't be just still backgrounds I will be using, but also 2x2 char scrolling effects inside the game as well. I am aiming to do a power-up colour for some aliens, say a purple one for example, which should give random power ups to the player. :)

KickAssembler sure makes my life much easier ;)

The background can be changed easily for a slightly improved contrast.

When the colours of aliens are changed to something brighter then it makes the game harder requiring to shoot them up to 3 times. The colour fades on each shoot, so this is not an option ;)

What would be interesting is to have a bitmap background instead where one of the colours is always black and is used for drawing a black outline for the invaders.

For some reason I kind of like this. Nice layered screen and offset the usual seuck, sorry had a small hickup there, sci-fi feeling
