Test in my C64 Reloaded MK1 + Sidfx + real 1541 and works perfect | User Comment Submitted by algorithm on 14 April 2018
updated d64 with loader. Should now work on 1541u and 1541u2. | User Comment Submitted by Krill on 16 March 2018
e5frog: Performance is the same. I managed to exchange the "bad" illegals in the core read loop with the "good" ones and reworked the decoding tables accordingly, cycle count unchanged. The loop can still read, decode AND checksum blocks on the fly, on all 1541 variants. \:D/ | User Comment Submitted by e5frog on 16 March 2018
Great fix Krill, works great on the Ultimate II+. Does the changes affect the performance of the loader? | User Comment Submitted by Krill on 16 March 2018
Getting more compatible every day! \:D/ | User Comment Submitted by algorithm on 16 March 2018
Krill: "Now works with 1541U(2)(+), avoided anc #imm entirely and arr #imm to some extent" | User Comment Submitted by Magic on 13 March 2018
nice one!
looking forward to your coding skills inside a offence demo! will rock i am sure! | User Comment Submitted by e5frog on 12 March 2018 User Comment Submitted by e5frog on 12 March 2018
Wow!
Looks like Cindy Crawford, but it can't be 'cause she has the beauty-mark on the other side. ;-) | User Comment Submitted by Yogibear on 12 March 2018 User Comment Submitted by Max on 11 March 2018
AMAZING! dropped on a floppy disk and worked a treat on 1541 ;)Had issues on 1541-II so use a original 1541, and all is fine, wonderful work! | User Comment Submitted by Frostbyte on 10 March 2018 User Comment Submitted by Krill on 10 March 2018
Jojeli: This is a known issue and likely a 1541u bug, as real drives and all relevant emulators or replacements work. As i don't own a 1541u, please PM me if you want to join the betatesting force and help me work around this incompatibility.
Hedning: This may or may not be a loader issue. Feel free to send a PM for some loader test images. :) | User Comment Submitted by hedning on 10 March 2018
Same issues here on real hw. Algotech logo then blank, and nothing. Ran the bugfixed version. | User Comment Submitted by Frostbyte on 10 March 2018
I can't get either version running on my real C64C with 1541u2+. I've tried with Retro Replay with fastload, normal reset, and without retro replay, but it just no worky. :/ I can see the Algotech logo in the beginning, but when it starts loading the next part, drive starts spinning but doesn't load anything, and the screen stays blank.
Same goes for my Vice v2.4 (yeah very old I know... so probably it's not even supposed to work on that version).
EDIT: Vice works, it was a matter of me forgetting to enable true drive emulation! | User Comment Submitted by algorithm on 10 March 2018
@Streetuff. Interesting. But just from listening to this, I would probably need to double the updates per frame even more as there are a lot of sharp transitions occurring densely. One thing to note is that I forced maximum step size in the search space to be from -$1f to +$1f in the current encoder. The quality of output could have been increased further but the encoding would have taken a very very long time (as each step size search is proportionally in time a lot longer per step size increase.
@bob. I was in two minds whether to not release this and use it in a larger demo or to release it as a proof of concept. I don't think this would proper qualify as a demo in the traditional sense, but more an experiment (I am also a very impatient person..) :-) | User Comment Submitted by algorithm on 10 March 2018
bugfixed version uploaded.
fixes the following issues...
audio glitch for a few frames while transitioning between text routine and scroller routine
crashes or sample corruption after first run or possibly first run due to overrunning d800 clear which sends wrong values back to main loop
new beta version of krill's loader | User Comment Submitted by Street Tuff on 10 March 2018 User Comment Submitted by algorithm on 10 March 2018
Bug fix for demo coming soon. Seems I overlooked the d800 plotting cpu usage between transitions which caused issues elsewhere. This will rectify the issue of corrupt samples occurring during second and third run onwards of demo on realc64 and emulation as well as crash within vice. | User Comment Submitted by Golara on 10 March 2018 User Comment Submitted by ThunderBlade on 10 March 2018 User Comment Submitted by TheRyk on 10 March 2018
really impressive quality
PS: and RRR! @visuals ;) | User Comment Submitted by Bob on 10 March 2018
Awesome.. but why don't you release this for a compo ? | User Comment Submitted by Snabel on 10 March 2018 User Comment Submitted by Jammer on 10 March 2018 User Comment Submitted by Mixer on 10 March 2018
Impressive! keep them coming. BUG: crashes after 10 minutes.(Vice 3.1 x64) | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 10 March 2018
whats the name of the tune? :) | User Comment Submitted by Joe on 10 March 2018 User Comment Submitted by algorithm on 9 March 2018
Uses krills unreleased updated loader. If using emulator, ensure resid is selected and newsid. Digiboost hardmods are not supported.
