poindexter: Yes we did. And it's not uncommon (been done since the 80ies), when there is nothing to train. Welcome here btw.

Uh, you just slapped an intro fastloader on open source, not-copy-protected work? To the first to have done so? LOL. Thanks for the exposure, though. :)

...In the meantime Lily Lander landed on each of those water lilies leaves,
jumping forward and didn't think anything about either crackstandards in the commodore 64 scene,
or even minded how the graphics looked..

Faayd: Well, a table is, as you probably actually know, "an arrangement of data in rows and columns, or possibly in a more complex structure.", and the very definition of a high score table is ”A list of high scores presented in tabular format.” One score can never be definied as a high score table. Trying to argue for that is quite silly.

As Faayd said, yes, you need to stay in the 24h window anyway, but still it is a good advantage.

I want to give also 5ct ;)

I read both rules, you all know them for sure....
In Vandalism News rules "If the game has a hi-score table, then we expect a hi-score saver" for me even one shown highscore is a highscore-table.

In Propaganda only trainer is required if needed

Two different rules, for me 2 different decisions.
And before someone started to do +H on 1000s of older "firstreleases" there is a 24hour rule too :)

O'Dog: A highsaver for one score might be a nice addon for some, and please feel free to add them, but you guys weren't first to find or release this game. That is a fact. Peace.

Maybe a Hi-Saver for one score is not essential or required. But at least it is some value that can be added instead of just linking an intro. This game is quite nice and we refused to simply introlink this game just to grab some points. In this case we would surely have got the deserved comment as well. ;)

Raistlin: Problem is that the games in the older days had copyprotection, which is rare today. So plain introlinking a new game is regarded pretty lame if there are openings for trainers etc. In this case, there there were no openings for trainers, then a pure introlink is ok, as the game was new and anyone could grab it if they knew where to look. People need to hurry. Problem here is how to look upon hiscoresaver. Traditionally a hisaver is a great addon if there is a hiscore table saved in mem. In this case you don't put in your initials, and there is no table, so in our case we saw it as unnecessary to add a hisaver. If you cannot remember a single score, then write it down with a pen. Discussing this makes it get more complicated: If the group releasing a game first is not first, because someone else added something, who is REALLY first then? It opens up for Pandora's box: If three groups release the same game within 24h: one trained one, one with hisaver, and one that is actually first, who was "first"?! It gets silly. In my world you should not hand out first release points to people that weren't first. You can punish them, whip them, and make fun of them for sucking balls, but you can't deny them from being first. That is the problem.

no clue what you guys are talking about, but if I collect all your 2c and 5c I could get easily rich.

Adding cheats and high-score savers is a way to "improve" a game, I guess, but I'm surprised to hear that they form part of the "first release" criteria.

Surely there'll be some really old games without hiscore savers added..? If none of the cracks of those games met the first release criteria, are they potential targets for groups wishing to score first release points now, decades later, I wonder..?

Interesting case. Definitely LXT version has one more feature which increases the quality of the release, however, in my opinion, it wasn't essential. On the other side GP did what I'd probably would do too, release first and get out with what's needed to get the points.

If trainers are essential, they should be in, but in this specific case we are talking about an add-on. My concern is that if first releases are considered based on the quality of it, no matter when they are released in their window frame, we will end with groups leeching off other people efforts to get points just adding more thing to make it better. My 2c.

As mentioned, was unsure on the passing here, due to the traditional table with name entry not being present (and a two value listing with pre-defined names being in place). Will see what others think etc.

Jazzcat: Do as you wish, but one (or two) scores are weak indeed and in my opinion it does not make sense, and if you are serious and consistent, then give Onslaught points for C=Rex Offline +H instead of Atlantis; just picking one of the examples where you have judged differently in the past.

Agrees with Jazzcat.

The views of Joe and O'Dog have clouded the validity of this "first release" due to their views on the game's scoring system. If it is determined there is a hi-score system, then the rules stipulate a saver should be installed. Unsure on this though, two scores seem a bit weak, but still: it is a scoring system.

Since when was a hisaver needed for game without a hiscore table? That's just silly. I do understand it when there is a hiscore table, but cmon.

First to the boards is a gate opener, the release then has to adhere to the rules in place. If it doesn't, subsequent releases are then looked to.

I see no reason why one couldn't fix the code so both scores was saved for a cold reset and replay at another time? "Best" and "last", hell one could probably also add time and date or whathaveyou.

Joe: Still only one score is saved. It seems like some wants one score to be saved as well as full score tables. I would understand a full hi-score table. If you want a smaller version, DL this version, otherwise please feel free to download Laxity's. Their releases are often pretty ok. I like them. And O'dog smells good, despite his handle. ;) This release was the first one to hit the boards, and as it did not have a hiscore table, we didn't think a hisaver was needed. But it is the first release. Cheers.

Unsure if this intro link counts as the first release at all. If games have any hi-score listing, we expect a hi-score saver (in lieu of normal trainers which in this case cannot be provided). This is mentioned in the Cracking Standards of "The List" rules.

Well.. Basically on the title screen with the frog there is "best" and "last" scores stated on the screen. Obviously not in the traditional sense with saved alias, but a "highscore-table" is theoretically very much in it's right? My 2c.

Or you became aware of the game after we released it. ;) We will never know. Having a hisaver when there is no hiscore table is quite strange anyway. My 5c.

I expected a simple introlink to appear while I was working on adding some value by installing a hi-saver.
