A pity this is unfinished, some sfx (samples) would have made this a classic. | User Comment Submitted by Sander on 27 March 2008 User Comment Submitted by digdug on 4 April 2007
I asked Bob to draw the components a specific way for the purposes of the demo.
It was meant to be part of a bigger piece featuring different viewpoints on a race culminating in one of the bikes crashing but we ran out of steam.
I use the term multiplexer for any technique which reuses sprites within a frame. IO, the game Bob and I did together, features a full featured dynamic multiplexer.

@wile coyote: Multiplexing is when you make more sprites appear on the screen than the default hardware settings. Of course this is possible by pointing different sprite data to sprite pointers.

Yep, mind though that this was based on a still image that Bob already had made. With the code and animations added, it sums up to a great piece of graphics. Do yourselves a favor - take a sunday and check out all the wonderful graphics from legends such as Bob, Dokk and Ste which are present here at CSDb. | User Comment Submitted by digdug on 3 April 2007
It's not one big animation. The big bike is a bunch of multiplexed sprites, the smaller bike and its trail, and the background wall, are all scrolling characters. The grid at the bottom is an animation. | User Comment Submitted by T.M.R on 30 September 2006
Oswald: Stevenson was doing class graphics as far back as 1985... the Tut pic that was made famous for being one of the first ESCOS pictures was a mod of his, from Power Windows.
And yeah, bloody class stuff... =-) | User Comment Submitted by Motion on 30 September 2006
Let's face it guys, everything Bob Stevenson ever did was sexy! That's why I added it to CSDB... :) | User Comment Submitted by hollowman on 28 September 2006 User Comment Submitted by Oswald on 28 September 2006
wow! this is the proof that some ppl could do fine gfx already in 87 :) | User Comment Submitted by Sander on 28 September 2006
This one would've been incredibly sexy. It already slightly is :) | User Comment Submitted by Scout on 28 September 2006
This is quite neat!
And people, this is an animation. |
