Hey guys, thanks for the nice comments. After all it was worth to make that intro and for sure it won't be the last. Lets have some beers in october and always remember "Pleasure is our business!". @fanta: nice one ;-)

AAaargg! How can you do this to me!!
This is the true Radwar staff doing the true Radwar magic in full Radwar style!!... May I fall on my knees and bow? Just like DK said: How did some guys that haven't touched a c64 in years come up with such an impressive thing?
Enough said... I hope to see you again in Oct.

"SAM was based on sampled phonemes so it doesn't count ;)"

thats wrong, SAM doesnt contain any samples at all, it uses a linear combination of sinus, rectangle and noise.

Hi Krill, you're absolutely right. Lautschrift doesn't use any pre-sampled phonemes. If someone out there doesn't believe it, well make a quick Disassemble at Hex $14e3 and see ...

PWP used short samples though.

Haven't seen this yet, still at least Pers' Wastaiset Produktiot tried speech synth since Uncle Sam. Oh, and perhaps a bit too much credits in here (code & help?). Besides this, looking forward to check it soon!

IF you can believe the note and a quick peek into the code, it really is formant synthesis, where the SID's simple waveforms are used for voice replay. Of course, some modifiers apply as well. I'm pretty sure there are no pre-generated phoneme samples included here, instead, just a bunch of hand-polished (or maybe not, leaving room for improvement?) synthesis parameters over time.

AFAIK, this is also making use of short samples, played with certain rules (pitch, length of loop, combination of letters/numbers (2007), etc..) Still, pretty cool. I suppose we have to listen to this from a coder's point of view and at least we can hear what the computer is saying ;)

Nice that somebody tried what's been on my list for over two years now. :) Sounds pretty good.

SAM was based on sampled phonemes so it doesn't count ;) this is definitely based on standard sid synths and still it sounds clear which deserves point :) however, sound is a bit annoying.

Hi DeeKay, thanks for your nice words - you made me happy and saved my day. Btw: As we were thinking about a new 4k intro, we wanted to do something special. That's why we were so unhappy that the 4k compo at bp was cancelled. Anyway, watch out for some more stuff using this synth speech, we're preparing a package including sourcecode so that everybody can use and of course improve it. bye and see ya in oct., mws

Very nice speechsynth! Pretty impressive, especially since nobody has done anything like this since back when SAM came out! ;-)
How did some guys that haven't touched a c64 in years come up with such an impressive thing?

It's a 4k, so I don't really know why was it competing in the demo category.
