Not sure if we can move this discussion to the forum.

Are we sure that the problem is related to drive seeking or wobbling? If I remember correctly, we had issues with K.M.'s loader in Lone Star and the ultimate fix was the change in the transfer loop. It's a single cycle too tight and because of that, the loading sometimes failed.

1541-II:
crashed 4 of 10 times at the same moment, mentioned earlier in youtube movie at minute 8 (screen freezes)

@PiCiJi: I'm asking more about specific demo part, not quite technical reason for crash. You've stated that 4 launches per 10 on real HW/drive do crash. Is it same moment all the time? Is it the same moment it crashes in emulator or different one?

In emulation, the track change is usually made immediately to the adjacent track.
In reality, it takes a few milliseconds to reliably read from the next track.
In addition, a few milliseconds are read from the old track.
It's hard to figure out exactly what the program does but it expects a certain position on the following track
or expects to read data on the current track after the command to change tracks has already been given.
Activating the stepper delay emuulation just before loading the problematic part is not enough to fix the problem.
It needs to be enabled from beginning, so no I can't specify the exact moment.

By the way, it can also be fixed if the track alignment is offset by about 10 ms when reading in the D64 and no stepper delay is emulated overall.

@PiCiJi, interesting infos. I knew, there were a problem here. Then this partly also exists on real drives with this demo, but not quite as bad. Will try this thing out, with these recommended settings for the emulator. I like this demo, a repaired version, that not crashes at all, would be great.

The image works on a real drive, at least most of the time. In 10 attempts, the demo crashed 4 times.
The stepper motor delay must be emulated. In Denise set "Stepper Seek Time" to at least 9 ms.
Like on the real drive, it won't always work. This is due to drive fluctuations.
Either you use a save state just before this area is loaded for safety or set the option "Disk Wobble" to zero.

I guess, this diskimage really must have a bug. Tried this demo with the current versions of Denise, VICE and HOXS today and it don't run to the end. All emulators stop exactly at the some point. First i thought, maybe this is the end of this demo, but then i watched two youtube-videos of this demo and there it runs completely through. So the problem must be this uploaded diskimage here, because it would be an extreme coincidence, if all three emulators had the same incompatibility. When you compare it with this video here

then this uploaded disk-image here, always stops, when the picture is shown, that comes in minute 8:02 of the video. The remainig 3 minutes can not be watched with this diskimage here. Has anybody tried this image on a 1541-Ultimate or a real 1541?
