Incredibly enough the 2 wrong bytes can be patched in the d64 without having to unpack, fix and repack the main prg. See the "IndianaJones&TheLastCrusade+3-Nato[trainer_restored].D64" download, that's probably how it should work.

> confusing text about tape
that's just the text from the original tape version, they simply have not changed it.

the trainer has indeed something wrong:
(C:$286c) d 2847
.C:2847 20 E4 FF JSR $FFE4
.C:284a C9 59 CMP #$59
.C:284c F0 06 BEQ $2854
.C:284e C9 4E CMP #$4E
.C:2850 F0 07 BEQ $2859
.C:2852 14 F3 NOOP $F3,X <
.C:2854 A9 BD LDA #$BD
.C:2856 0C 79 8A NOOP $8A79 <
.C:2859 A9 4A LDA #$4A
.C:285b A0 29 LDY #$29
.C:285d 20 1E AB JSR $AB1E

I have no idea if it's "nopped" by error (bad dump?) or simply got patched
before crunch&release to not make the trainer selectable, maybe bugged the game.
To restore it, in vice monitor

Agree that it's odd that "Infinite Energy" is skipped in the trainer menu. I also get the confusing text about tape but when I press fire the game is loaded from disk. I'm on VICE 3.1.

Nope, I have True Drive Emulation on ...

You probably have true drive emulation inactive. It works for me pressing fire, as requested by the message.
T64 is not really a tape, you know, it doesn't really matter unless it's a tap. But that's even irrelevant here. This is a crack from a tape version but it's working fine from drive 8

Does this work..? I get a message after the trainer suggesting to "Zero Tape Counter And Press Fire".. but the release is a .D64. I tried creating a blank .t64 and inserting that to no avail... maybe it needs more instructions for noobs like me?

There's also something odd with the trainer ... this is correctly labelled as +2 as there seems to be "Infinite Lives" and "Level Skip"... but as the selection bar scrolls down, "Infinite Energy" is clearly visible (just enter VICE MON and do F D800 DBE7 01 to see it more clearly). Odd...
