will be very interesting to dig into this when I have some free time.
both thumbs up for this one \o/ !!! | User Comment Submitted by Soren on 28 January 2010
Yeah, it's definately worth experimenting with things, still. There are still things to learn, even for me who's been very nerdy concerning sound programming :-D | User Comment Submitted by Hermit on 28 January 2010
And that is the way of thinking I respect very much, keep your good attitude of putting maximal effort into the SID-composing...
I hope me too will have more time in the future to go deeper into the magic world of Hard Restarts..(this experiment will be needed to complete my new player+tracker...hopefully this year :)

Hermit: Yep, well, I am not sure if GT handles all the possibilities of doing soft/hard restart, but to me it's been interesting to check things like these out in various players... Too much hardrestart usually cuts away too much of the sound between the notes. Softer restarts allow faster trigging of notes and some also have less clicking. So, to summarise, for me it's nice to be able to do a fitting restart for each instrument. :-) Btw, I use siddump to check things like this, works very well for me. | User Comment Submitted by Hermit on 28 January 2010
Jeff, I rechecked Robocop3, and you're right it doesn't use ADSR-hardrestart. (At least not in periods of captured PAL-50Hz frames.)
BTW, it uses the first-frame/thick Waveform $09, and while checking the 2nd drum-channel, Waveform seems always resetting GATE-bit 1 or 2 frames before this...at least my Sidhacker shows this..
For me it seems at least something kinda trial for achieving some very soft/strict-restart, but not that is the reason why you see HR in Goattracker implementation.
The reasons: -First I'd admit my laziness after awaken whole night :) (I hope this will be forgiven by the 'users'...)
-Then I don't remember how to switch off HR in GT (timer couldn't be set to 0, .. I should reread the manual..)
-Why not making all these instruments in this complete set similar in timing to make them able working together. (I suspect, unfortunately GT handles Hardrestart AFTER notestart, causing non-Hardrestart and tied notes starting 1 or 2 frames earlier then HR-notes....)
Thanks for the 'thanks' guys, i honestly hope you can gain success with the usage... and I do apologize if the soundrips somehow belong to the category of theft..

Hermit: Didn't you forget to include the right soft/hard restarts? I mean the way the sounds are intialised in the different players used in the original tunes. Forexample the Robocop 3 tune - That one doesn't use hard restart of any kind. | User Comment Submitted by FATFrost on 27 January 2010

Nice Work! Now let's have some stuff from Tim Follin ;) | User Comment Submitted by Linus on 26 January 2010
Don´t waste your time doing this to Stainless Steel´s stuff either. I seriously doubt anybody would make use of his work anyway, hands down :-D | User Comment Submitted by Stainless Steel on 26 January 2010
Be careful, next thing you know is that this appears in your HVSC folder in the next update :-D DRAMA ENSUES!!
PS : Dont do this with Linus's stuff, that would break his fragile little heart :-D | User Comment Submitted by Joe on 26 January 2010
Cool collection of canons: I'd wish you do one of the electronic non-figurative as well. | User Comment Submitted by Hermit on 26 January 2010
Hi, Dear Mates
Who doesn't know what GT is:
This is not a 'MUSIC' release, the sid is only a demo for the .sng file, that can be opened from Goat Tracker 2.68.
Then you can save the particular instruments by pressing F7 to go to instrument-window, then F11 to save in .ins format.
(Change instruments with + and -...and read GT manual, if you are newbie, and interested in composing.)
I used my Sidhacker 2.5 on some tunes to get some new instruments into GT.
I made them manually, spending awake a sleepless night, but it was worth it :)
I hope you can take your benefits from it, especially ones who are not so good in sound-design..
:):):)
The credits for the amazing 'soundfonts':
I've recreated the instruments from Dazzler, BBrurago Rally endseq, Golden axe bass, Faces intro in Creatures, Last Ninja 3, Clik-Clak, Revolution, Illmatic end, Mysterious Worlds Preview, Robocop3 title by Jeroen Tel..
(They're placed originally on the SidHacker disk.)
