carmine: well, we already did a NUFLI slideshow that loads from disk, Crest Slide Story! ;-)
Why we use REU? 8) No loading times and an insane amount of pictures, if we were to load this from disk, we'd need about a hundred of them, and i seriously doubt anyone would like to jockey around with a hundred disks! 8)
shadow: the tool used for dithering and mapping to c64 color ramps is not mufflon itself, but a custom Java tool that a PC guy made after i described to him what I was looking for. It's in no way fit for release, but I hope i can motivate him to finish it some day! ;-)

I like it, but why use a 16 Mb REU for a slideshow?! Please, make a version loadable from filesystem.

Nice! Insane amount of pictures, while there are some that look very "converted", there are others that just look great and really "pop" out.
I think my favorite though was that photo of an ordinary white rope, best photo-conversion I've ever seen on a C64 I think.

Too bad that I can't view them on my real C64 (don't have a 1541U). Come on, add them as 725 separate NUFLIs! ;)

Is the converter doing some C64-gradient magic btw? It looks like it is somehow aware of the normal C64-color ramps commonly used. A normal error-diffusion method usually yields some strangely colored pixels here and there, but in many pictures water for example looked almost as a 64-artist had done it and selected the correct colors.

I'd also like to get my hands on some of the original pictures used in this, seems like they would be good test-material for my 1200-colors C64DTV piccy-converter! :)

Will there be also a version for an actual REU? Or does this one work on one already? :P

Viscid: do you honestly believe *anybody* would do serious pixelwork for something that's shown 1/12th of a second? <:-)
Well, actually we did, sometimes, but that's because we're perfectionists! ;-) And it was by no means "serious pixelwork", just fixing obvious bugs here and there...

Using the REU for animations is kicking...no doubt. But using it for showing only converted Pix, even in this quality, is not my cup of tea.

Some of them are absolutely awesome.
Yet, I have very mixed feelings about this.
I am not conviced that such a massive flooding of converted top quality pics is a good thing.
No question about the quality of all technical aspects involved.

Pinches my heart a little.
