I was waiting for the disco ball to start spinning and with some nice sparkle sprites on top. Other than that I love this.
The dancing girl with cool backgrounds rocks. The interference effect looks great too. You'd think it's displayed on a linked set of CRT screens in a darkened room.
The SID is fitting and makes ya wanna boogie.
It is way TOO SHORT for such groovy stuff. I wanted more. | User Comment Submitted by Oswald on 10 January 2014
you're completely right. the whole thing was rushed, and misses the love & care. | User Comment Submitted by abaddon on 10 January 2014
"show how much better a lot of effects in boogie factor could have been done"
Yet with all your macho skills you (subjectively speaking) failed to make a better demo. No cigar. | User Comment Submitted by Joe on 12 July 2011
My Censor! Lovely flow, one of the top five! Part from one image, which would have needed a make-up. | User Comment Submitted by JackAsser on 23 February 2009
The tunnel in the screen dump (YES!) is really nicely thought out codewize. Well done guys! I'll try to keep tricks like that in mind. | User Comment Submitted by tempest on 3 September 2008
some really good stuff here. hope to see the 100% version. | User Comment Submitted by Linus on 28 August 2008
Deekay: Those weird clicks here and there you refer to are caused by the democode itself (same issue as in cauldron). The tune works pretty well in my player, check the the sid to get the idea. Seems like goat is one huffy bitch :) | User Comment Submitted by DeeKay on 28 August 2008
I liked this, although it was too short! ;-) But some nice screen. I liked the 8x8 plasma in the beginning, for years I was waiting for someone to do an 8x8 plasma using this bitpattern of growing circles! Never has an 8x8 Plasma looked that good! ;-)
The dancing chick rocks, the interference is nice (how'd you do the colors short of poking into the bitmap?) but a bit too "dirty" for my taste..
Clearly wants to be the successor to Boogie Factor and succeeds in some areas (code) but falls short in others (gfx, also the tune is nice, but nothing like the legendary boogie factor tune! 8). "Good Evening, Sir. Just in time for the show" - Classic! ;-D
Oh, btw: Is it just me or do Linusses tunes sound a bit weerd on other c64s, too? A few clicks too many and some stuff sounds like it wasn't meant to sound that way... Maybe we should get him onto a real c64 and away from goattracker? ;-) | User Comment Submitted by Isildur on 27 August 2008 User Comment Submitted by G-Fellow on 25 August 2008
Amazing good tune Linus ! Good demo too ! | User Comment Submitted by Shadow on 24 August 2008
I like it! Supersmooth dancer animations and that lovely interference effect - great.
I agree with everyone else that the disco ball part somehow felt like it should start moving, I guess since there was no other action during that part.
Also it ended to quickly, I wanted more, more! :D | User Comment Submitted by Steppe on 24 August 2008
Solid production with a really good soundtrack. Reminded me a bit of Boogie Factor. | User Comment Submitted by Ed on 24 August 2008
Shame on you for not spinning that head ;)
Some nice stuff. Slightly glitchy but that interference circle is probably the coolest thing in the show. | User Comment Submitted by Monte Carlos on 24 August 2008

Well, to second Puterman - the concept feels used, and the disco gfx feels like it needs quite some polish before the final release. Same goes with the texts and the dancer animation frames.
Save for that, the star-effect was fresh, the dancer nice, the interference mindblowing and the music solid. Yeah, and that intro-effect is a real killer! I would probably have had a hard time choosing between this and Silver Star for the top vote. | User Comment Submitted by Jammer on 23 August 2008
oopsss!... puterman vs archmage - round one! :D | User Comment Submitted by Puterman on 23 August 2008
I would have voted this as number one, because some parts look really fresh (especially the interference). Not all that solid, though, for obvious reasons. The concept feels tired, and the music doesn't get me going at all. | User Comment Submitted by Archmage on 23 August 2008
I am Linus' biggest fan and I'll cross swords with anyone who dare say different! Yay! What a composer!
A couple of very nice screens here, most notably the one in the snapshot. Feels a bit stuttery due to the black screens when loading, but all in all a nice demo which will get a permanent place in my diskbox.
And yeah, about that disko ball... | User Comment Submitted by Stainless Steel on 23 August 2008
Kick ass. Made me horny. Love linuß's groove.
And what everyone said about the disco ball.

Cool demo effects, great music too. | User Comment Submitted by Hein on 23 August 2008
Nicelooking effects, allthough still a bit unpolished. Thanks for the link, Abaddon, chicks with d... bassguitars rule. | User Comment Submitted by Scout on 23 August 2008
I miss the pace and timing. Also some black screens ruin it for me.
Saw some nice things coming by tho. | User Comment Submitted by Burglar on 23 August 2008
this one should've won. cool demo! | User Comment Submitted by Jammer on 23 August 2008
seemingly less codepr0n but designwise it definitely beats 'silver star'. i almost feel that i watch regular videoclip or spaceballs' 'state of art' :D thumbs up! just pity that the disco ball wasn't movin' :( | User Comment Submitted by Hoild on 23 August 2008
Too short, and yes there are rushed parts, like the unexploited opportunities that could have been done in the disco ball part.
There is a design concept flowing through the production, totally not just a coder demo.
The interference effect is awesome, looks positively plus4-ish to me -- makes it no wonder to see Bubis in the credits. ;]

Just lovely! Me likes ALOT! :D | User Comment Submitted by Oswald on 23 August 2008
@hcl, we have released the mirror ball in cauldron, back then it didnt looked like we will do something with the leftovers of our dead 'disco project'. | User Comment Submitted by DjS on 23 August 2008
This is one fresh demo! Cool gfx, Fat tune.
I want moar!! :D | User Comment Submitted by HCL on 23 August 2008
Love some screens, especially the background of the girl anim with colorful flashing squares. Easy but very good looking! The mirror ball don't rotate here at my place, should it!? | User Comment Submitted by Skate on 23 August 2008
nice effects. some parts are really nice to watch. I hope %100 comes out so we can enjoy the show without bugs. | User Comment Submitted by abaddon on 23 August 2008 User Comment Submitted by Fanta on 23 August 2008
i am into this kind of demos... thumbs up - i like it! i believe "silver star" was more difficult to code but this demo is still my number 1 from the compo (sorry clarence) as it has a better flow and freshness. the dancing girl is übercool, a pity she forgot to dance to the rhythm. :) music rocks, finally a tune from li-nuss that i like. | User Comment Submitted by jailbird on 23 August 2008
Truly great stuff here. Pity it isn't longer, more consistent and dynamic so it could take Boogie Factor off from the throne of funky demos. Also miss the awesome disco ball from Cauldron. <not cool>YAY, and even more tagged converted/retouched graphics!</not cool> | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 23 August 2008
nice! the interference fx totally rocks <3 a bit short though, the end comes a bit unexpected. oh well :) | User Comment Submitted by Sander on 23 August 2008
Very nice! I'd say this is my #1 from the compo. Obviously inspired by Boogie Factor. But technically probably a lot better, as can be expected from the Hungarian macho coders. | User Comment Submitted by Yazoo on 23 August 2008
groovy! some nice visuals here - and nice music |
