I stand corrected, thanks for the explanation and sorry to have doubted, I got the impression it was simply copied + some hacks.

Mi contribution to this release was very minimal. That was due to the fact that we didn't want to change it too much from the original, graphic wise. I made a hires intro pic of Castle Dracula, along with the title sprites in the txt screen with the instructions. I corrected few pixel errors I found here and there in the original redefined char set of the game. I made few sprites to help the player when climbing the stairs and grabbing objects. Finally MP liked my idea to animate the flames on the chandeliers. So we added them. That said, the BASIC version of this cute mini-game was terrible. MP did a great job converting and tweaking it to make it much more enjoyable.

Even the final scene is created by me. In the original version there was a simple final text.
Hi everyone, guys. Have fun!

each instruction was rewritten in assembly, instruction by instruction! No tools, no basic compiler obviously

the basic code has been rewritten in assembly, the bonus-time has been introduced, the hi-score with relative saving, a different musical base has been inserted, a mechanism has been implemented to help you understand when you can get on, get off the stairs and take the objects. The original credits are been inserteds. it's a lamer's work?

Are you sure it's just not compiled basic? I haven't checked.

For what it's worth, the original French version is in BASIC. This one is in Machine Language. I don't think it's a "lamer" release.
