If own art is just converted, it'd be at least polite to mention it publicly. Rest is set in the rules of the specific compo.

What @CopAss says is true: conversions in gfx compos do not really encourage anyone to do their own pixel art which is a great loss for the scene itself. I know several newbies who started to do something for the scene but gave up because of things like this.

Would point out the responsibility of the compo organizers in here.

Never said it changes anything. Just wanted to advise that it is a convert of the artists own work. That's all.

Jazzcat: it doesn't change the conversion...the point of pixel art would be that you create it. the conversion can only be a base. no more. it's an unwritten rule.
I could as easily convert any of my drawings and call it pixel art. but it won't be.
which is why the phases should be made.

CopAss: It is a convert. But of Patto's own work.

organisers do not check properly, but if they do, they should be excluded.
mysdata also has a converted image (Gåsapågen).
I work long hours (6-24 depending on the image) on my images.
converting is a huge advantage because you're converting someone else's work. everything is done: colors, composition, shapes, etc.
it's cheating, not art.

Hah, yeah, in my defence I was looking on my phone earlier.. hmm. Definitely a convert. And that's definitely a cock in the corner, it's even clearer on the big screen.

What's it with the current flow of conversions in gfx compos? Scene getting teenage again?

Pretty cool!

I’m not sure if it’s just me but… at bottom right… is it? I mean, it looks like a “head” and a hand to me……….
