Great picture! I really like it. Keep up the good work!
I don't really care if a reference was used and I honestly don't understand all the people complaining about it. Even the great masters of art used references and no one started complaining about it. I also really dislike people complaining about artists creating great c64 pictures using references and aren't able to do graphics on their own even in a decent quality.
Sometimes it feels like "jealousy kindergarden".
But who cares. You shouldn't CONS, as the picture turned out to be really enjoyable. Congrats. | User Comment Submitted by Jak T Rip on 8 December 2013
I do think CONS' version is better than the original, though. But it is still lame to fool people who think it was your own idea. | User Comment Submitted by bob_apanbepan on 12 November 2013
It's sad that people don't appreciate the aspect of creating great art and instead treat rendering as THE achievement. The only hard work involved here is selecting canvas and not using appropriate tools when converting which result in many hours of carefully placing pixels by hand which can be a very fulfilling and demonstrably awardwinning pasttime. But seeing you entered it as a compofiller to support Syntax you are somewhat excused and the blame lands on the voters. I really don't like the motif however. If you have to go copy, at least choose Rambo! | User Comment Submitted by bepp on 10 November 2013
Only one public vote? And two downvoters. Congrats! At least I thought it was a nice execution. The blue color in the face really makes it distinguished from the rest. As you said, perhaps a bit rushed but still - fresh! | User Comment Submitted by CONS on 10 November 2013
OMG, that sucker used a referece!? Stone him! :)
To make it crystal clear, I use references, yes, sometimes extensively, sometimes less, sometimes not. Sometimes i mix different stuff. The only thing i dont do is, supply the reference, convert, wire or overpixel a picture with a half transparent layer. That fact is sooooo old and boring (at least for me), since i mentioned it on my homepage long ago and still do on every picture of mine that falls under that aspect (not here on csdb, agreed). The execution is done from scratch, thats why i make those workstages. I agree, it would have been way easier to just convert it, would have saved me hours of work, but i kind of like investing the hours to get it as exact as possible. And guess what, I take the resize thing as a compliment. Thanks! :) | User Comment Submitted by hedning on 10 November 2013
Even if the workstages make it look like an original idea and execution from scratch, I wonder why this picture _automatically_ pops up when searching online (it's almost pixel exact when resizing the original):
