Tanktics was even written in PET-basic. You first have to run an interpreter for that to be able to run that program.

In all fairness, you can't call these simulations real computer games. They are aid programs for paper conflict simulations really.
If you want to take a deeper look at this stuff, use the map and the counters with VASSAL. Saves you printing and fiddling with scissors and glue :)

Simulations Canada did more games like this btw. Sieg in Afrika is a nice example. Avalon Hill did several of em too. (Tanktics being a prime example, very playable as well)
The originals are nicely tucked away in my wargame cupboard here.

Very cool to have been able to discover this game :) Including the playing cards and map is a good idea. This gives someone the ability to print them and have the full playing experience. Very good first release!
