New version: Pentagram V1.20 now available. | User Comment Submitted by emu on 11 May 2016
Please note that I have just released a new, bug fixed version called: Pentagram V1.10
Please download the new one.
Really sorry for missing the bug in the first place.
The bug is in the RND function that can sometimes cause only 4 runes to be generated.
The new version uses the Atari versions method for RND which works fine. | User Comment Submitted by Bago Zonde on 11 May 2016
Brilliant work! Thanks for the source code, very interesting read! | User Comment Submitted by Richard on 5 May 2016
Great C64 conversion of an old Ultimate Play The Game classic. Works out pretty well :) | User Comment Submitted by GeoAnas on 5 May 2016
Great work !! Thanks for porting it to C64 ! | User Comment Submitted by ron.sos on 5 May 2016 User Comment Submitted by Jammer on 4 May 2016
I'd give 10 but game is hardly playable with more soft sprites around. | User Comment Submitted by emu on 4 May 2016
Yes, this game engine is written very much will the Spectrum's hardware in mind.
The upside down rendering helps the Z80 but the C64 has to take this into account when working out where to start drawing the sprites. | User Comment Submitted by Artlace on 4 May 2016
My Alien 8 port works the same way, the graphics are also upside down (the Speccy pulled them from the stack) and organized like the Speccy screen - even if the original I used is from the BeeB.
Anyway, great work for porting it to C64! | User Comment Submitted by Hoild on 4 May 2016
I truly liked the speccy version, but as I never had a speccy I was playing it in emulators on my Amiga Art then my A3000. Knight Lore was great as well.
What a pleasant surprise to find it ported, respect! | User Comment Submitted by Carrion on 4 May 2016
this is really nice release.
saw the atari version few days ago and was thinking why we couldn't have c64 version too, and ... there you go!
good job!
any other zx games left to be converted? | User Comment Submitted by lemming on 4 May 2016
superb! I jjust love these isometric classic 'action adventures', and that they're being ported to the C64 | User Comment Submitted by E$G on 4 May 2016 User Comment Submitted by emu on 4 May 2016
Thanks for all your great comments.
Mariusz did most of the cleaver stuff with his A8 conversion and was kind enough to release the source code to enable me to convert it to the 64.
Converting his code was much easier than I thought as he kept the Atari specific code separate from the main game code. You can see most of the Atari (and the original Z80 code) in the source file. Also the two (A8 and 64) machines are both 64k 6502 based machines and that's the hardware that's being used in this conversion (with a little bit of Sid!)
Interesting to note that the game renders the graphics to a buffer first upside down! The first version I had running had all the graphics running upside down!!
Yes Knight Lore and the other one would be nice converted in the same way, but a lot of work!! | User Comment Submitted by G-Force on 4 May 2016
