does it matter who is the king of any style? we can't paint in cubism becoz Picasso did? oh..... better not pixel anymore coz Mirage is the best at pixelz? ;) | User Comment Submitted by Wile Coyote on 7 October 2010
My first thought was Joe
I dont know why, but I have an idea why..
Since the dawn of C64 the cross-hatch pattern has been used to give an illusion of colours beyond the stock 16. In the past, the mixing of colours was used more to create solid colour. Over the past few years, it seems to have been used to create an illusion of transparency. Carrion has adopted to the concept well. Joe is king at this kind of thing.
If Photoshop had a Joe plug-in /filter, it might spit out something like Good Vibration. Something raw looking, without the added polish associated with a Joe image.
Please view my comments in good spirits, not to be taken to heart or offend in anyway. | User Comment Submitted by Joe on 7 October 2010 User Comment Submitted by Jammer on 7 October 2010
frantic: i assume that neither joe nor carrion is an inventor of using large areas of mixed colours thus lobo should feel free to explore this domain :P | User Comment Submitted by booker on 7 October 2010 User Comment Submitted by Frantic on 7 October 2010
Okay, but feels a lot like an imitation of other C64 graphicians' styles rather than an own exploration in the land of C64 graphix. Also, I find the shapes of the "swirling rainbows" (to use STE's terms) to be non-harmonic somehow. Probably breaks some perceptual law of some kind that Joe, or someone else, will be better able to put a label on. |
