it has a similar cute discussion attached though :o) | User Comment Submitted by hedning on 4 April 2016
Didi: Problem with your argument with Monster Buster is that Onslaught won that race with this equally untrained release (they were first on the majority of boards): Monster Buster - then they uploaded a new trained version later on. | User Comment Submitted by Lynx on 4 April 2016 User Comment Submitted by Smasher on 4 April 2016

I compare this game with Monster Buster because the need of a trainer is questionable in the same way. If trainers in general add any value to a release is ofcourse personal opinion. I just interpret the given rules the way they are written and I was not the one who created them. But I accept that there are different opinions here which do not come together in this case.
Nuff said. Have fun. | User Comment Submitted by Doc Strange on 4 April 2016
The point for me still is that trainer doesn't add any quality to the release, that's why I believe we won't give any points to Excess on Propaganda. | User Comment Submitted by Smasher on 4 April 2016
"WANNA GET UNLIMITED POINTS ON GC/VN/PROP? (Y/N)"
:) | User Comment Submitted by taper on 4 April 2016
The rules give one example of a game that does not need to be trained ("Pong styled 2-player game"), and you draw the conclusion that all games that are not 2-player games need to be trained? The rules definately does not clearly cover all examples of when training is needed or not (that would be impossible). Then you go on and compare this game with another release unrelated to this one.
One thing is clear; We will continue to use our own heads and add trainers when we think they add value, but certainly not add trainers just to get points in Game Corner.
Your interpretation of that rule is clearly biased - and actually quite hillarious as well. | User Comment Submitted by Didi on 4 April 2016
Like it or not, the current rules are that way and they quite clearly define when a trainer is considered as required. Triad was first, but Excess gets the points (at least in GC, but I guess in VN as well).
It is basically the same situation as with Monster Buster and Monster Buster +2 and Onslaught finally got the points in all Lists. | User Comment Submitted by hedning on 4 April 2016
Fungus: Part of the charm, part of the fun. Keeping the scene alive. :) Why do we still make anything for this old computer? | User Comment Submitted by Fungus on 4 April 2016
Arguing about points in 2016 is just sad. | User Comment Submitted by dink on 4 April 2016
I'd rather have it without an intro, anyways. | User Comment Submitted by Smasher on 3 April 2016
yeah, nice idea mighty Z! and you could control either the ring or the string ("string on a ring"?)... :) | User Comment Submitted by Zyron on 3 April 2016 User Comment Submitted by Smasher on 3 April 2016
I personally would give the points to the first who does a version of this game where you could use paddles :) | User Comment Submitted by taper on 3 April 2016
Read what Sailor says. He is not questioning the rule, he is questioning your interpretation of the word introlink in general (and not specifically for this release), Didi.
I have no problem with that rule, I still stand behind it. But it clearly states "and training (if needed)". I fail to see the need in this case, and I fail to see the sanity of your reasoning in this very case.
However, I will not get into some kind of flamewar with my old friends in Excess over one single release. My friendship with Stormfront and other Excess members are worth much more than that, even if we might disagree in this specific case. | User Comment Submitted by Didi on 3 April 2016
The change of rules was made in Domination #15 and also signed by Taper/Triad. ;)
Well, some small adjustments have been made since then. | User Comment Submitted by Mason on 3 April 2016

+1 Tom-Cat.
Seriously, what can't spark drama nowadays? :) | User Comment Submitted by Tom-Cat on 3 April 2016
You guys are hillarious :) | User Comment Submitted by The Overkiller on 3 April 2016
Anything more than a plain introlinking is better ... My three cents ... | User Comment Submitted by hedning on 3 April 2016
Sailor: I believe Didi refers to this: "From 2003 onwards, intro-linking only with no level packing (if needed) and training (if needed) games will be not earn points. An example of a game not needing trainers would be a two player versus style game (e.g. Pong)." taken from Jazzcat's rules (chapter PD/Sharware Games under Rules) :http://www.atlantis-prophecy.org/recollection/?load=the_list | User Comment Submitted by Didi on 3 April 2016
That rule exists in Jazzcat's rules since 2003, so it's not new. | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 3 April 2016
you could have unpacked and then packed it again at the very least - that would have made it so much betterer!!! | User Comment Submitted by sailor on 3 April 2016
@didi. What you say, is that if a game is not trained, its introlinked. That a new standard ? | User Comment Submitted by hedning on 3 April 2016
I agree with Dr.Strange here. The trainer makes no sense. First is first, and Triad had their release before Excess on the majority of the boards. I will discuss this further with Dr.Strange, but I believe we will award Triad the points in the upcoming Propaganda List. Will be interesting to see what Jazzcat thinks. | User Comment Submitted by Doc Strange on 3 April 2016
I really don't think that trainer makes sense, sorry. This release is not that better than the Triad one. My two cents. | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 3 April 2016 User Comment Submitted by Didi on 3 April 2016
IMO the trainer makes some sense, because it does not disable the collision detection completely and you can still see if you hit the line and can practice without having the restart over and over.
This release will get the points in Game Corner, because the Triad release is a plain introlink and the quality rules was introduced in 2003 because several groups just released introlinks and put no effort into a decent release. So giving the points to Excess follows the spirit of the rule. | User Comment Submitted by hedning on 3 April 2016
Triad had their release on the majority of the boards for 24h. That means first in all the mags' rules. If they will earn points or not is another question, as you can question the necessity of a trainer here. | User Comment Submitted by St0rmfr0nt on 3 April 2016
Thanks for setting the proper date, Hedning. The thing is that we claim the points for the first release as our release is better in quality as the triad version. Due to the cracking rules (from 2003) with regards to this particular topic we gain the first release points. | User Comment Submitted by hedning on 2 April 2016
Umm.. guys... Exploring the playfield? It's a frikkin' line! And the firstrelease was for sure claimed yesterday. And I am changing your date from tomorrow to today. |
