Nice to see that Active is still Active!
My old mail trader friend Surfer sent me a lot of stuff and I to him. | User Comment Submitted by Jak T Rip on 9 May 2023
Finally we unravel all the hidden pokes to unleash fresh effects from the C64! | User Comment Submitted by ChristopherJam on 22 February 2023
Haha brilliant. I'll be sure to ask the AI for help with my next production, who knows what amazing new capabilities remain to be unlocked!
Very nicely put together. | User Comment Submitted by bepp on 10 February 2023
Nice! Must have missed this when it was released. Just saw it on the Fjälldata stream <3 | User Comment Submitted by Starfox on 3 February 2023
This made me laugh... At how cool this is! 馃槑 | User Comment Submitted by TheRyk on 29 December 2022 User Comment Submitted by Hate Bush on 19 December 2022
looks impressive, but that's not an achievement if you have 120 colors at your disposal thanks to that AI sidekick. meh :|
kidding, ultra cool <3 | User Comment Submitted by Monte Carlos on 18 December 2022
My AI suggests yelling at the screen and then entering POKE 53281 and 53285 afterwards. | User Comment Submitted by Yogibear on 17 December 2022 User Comment Submitted by KAL_123 on 17 December 2022
Using interlace mix-colors in demos, is a great idea and it also works really good, in this one here. Thumbs up. | User Comment Submitted by Strepto on 17 December 2022
Oh no, I've been fooled :) | User Comment Submitted by Strepto on 17 December 2022
This is beautiful, great stuff, ECI gets some attention these days ;) | User Comment Submitted by Magnar on 16 December 2022
Wow! This is really cool! | User Comment Submitted by Dymo on 16 December 2022 User Comment Submitted by Dymo on 16 December 2022 User Comment Submitted by Digger on 16 December 2022
This is beautiful. Best extended colours demo on C64 imo. More fun by AI:
>>Another method is to use the "border sprite" feature of the VIC-II chip to display graphics in the border area. This is done by setting bit 5 of the "sprite-sprite collision" register ($D01E) to 1, and then using the sprite registers to define the graphics that you want to display in the border area. This can be used to create some interesting visual effects, but it is important to note that the border sprite feature is not supported by all Commodore 64 software, and may not work correctly in all situations.<< | User Comment Submitted by Max on 16 December 2022
Love it, very clever demo ;) | User Comment Submitted by Trap on 16 December 2022
Excellent color scales. Super nice little demo. | User Comment Submitted by trident on 15 December 2022
@wile I asked the AI this:
"Write a bullshit scroll text about how you have been able to rotate rasters, make them colourful, and play samples at the same time, on the Commodore 64.
It's amazing what the Commodore 64 can do! I'm able to rotate rasters, make them colourful, and play samples all at the same time. It's a feat that few can master, but I'm proud to say that I've done it! I can also open the side border, allowing me to use all 120 colors available on the Commodore 64. With my skills, I'm able to create a beautiful and vibrant world with my Commodore 64. I'm proud to be a master of this incredible machine!"
The AI is bullish enough (and seems to have a bit of a hangup on this sideborder thingy), but it doesn't provide us with any magic POKEs this time. So I guess we will have to work real hard to figure out how to make those rotating ECI rasters with samples, without the AI to help us! | User Comment Submitted by Wile Coyote on 15 December 2022
So many colours ^_^
@trident can you ask OpenAI GPT3 how to rotate rasters, make-em colourful and play samples at the same time. | User Comment Submitted by 4gentE on 15 December 2022 User Comment Submitted by Oswald on 15 December 2022
afaik none of my prods are run/stop restore proof, pointless excersize to disable it. if you want to crash, you can make it, be happy. | User Comment Submitted by Jammer on 15 December 2022
<3
Funniest thing is that prod isn't runstop/restore proof and crashes :D | User Comment Submitted by Flex on 15 December 2022 User Comment Submitted by The Syndrom on 15 December 2022 User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 15 December 2022
Love this. One of the rare cases where "interlace" doesnt suck :) | User Comment Submitted by trident on 15 December 2022
Based on a true story: the suggestion to try RUN/STOP + RESTORE and POKE 56576,1 was the suggestion that the OpenAI GPT3 engine gave when I asked how to open the side border and to display 120 colors on the C64.
When I re-run the query now, this is what it tells me:
"How do you open the side border and show 120 colors on the Commodore 64?
To open the side border and show 120 colors on the Commodore 64, you can enter the following command:
POKE 53280, PEEK (53281) OR POKE 53281, PEEK (53280). This will open the side border and allow the use of all 120 colors available on the Commodore 64."
So it looks like the AI has more than one incredible coding trick up its sleeve! |
