There won't be an updated version since the demo works fine on RH and all actual EMU's and U2 with actual Firmware.
Anyway, we investigated a bit and maybe a reason could be that we use BITFIRE loader which uses unintended opcodes.
Gideon implemented support for that only after version 2.6 in the U2.
And BTW: You can start demo also directly from SIDE2 :-)

Dr.Science, did you also test it with 2.6k and 2.5 Alpha Firmware or did you update the release meanwhile? I tested the demo with another 1541U II with FW 2.5 from the Gamescom (Retro Area) with the very same result: The UP-Key don't work after entering the disk swap menu (middle button) and if you try to leave the menu, the 1541U II completely crashes, even RESET doesn't work any more. I also try to set the cartridge image to "none" - no change! So it seems that it only works with FW 3.0 and the "Flip Disk" option which I dosen't have. As I have an individual FW 2.6 with some extra fixes, I don't want to update it to 3.0 as the fixes are gone then, see here:

We have tested the demo on several setups. Different Real Hardware, different U2 (with more or less actual Firmware), on Emu's and so on. All issues that we found were eliminated afaik.
Thanks to ChristopherJam for the feedback. And also thanks for the nice words on our demo :-)

Ah, and also fine using the change disk menu with the firmware I'm currently using (3.2a). Props to groepaz for pointing out to me that it doesn't have any flipping issues with chameleon..

Back to the demo though, that rotator is excellent, as is the into-the-border looped scroller. Nice transitions on the bird the bored angel is dreaming of, too.

PARALAX, it works just fine with U2+ running firmware 3.0e or later using the flip-disk function (hold the middle button for at least one second).

https://1541u-documentation.readthedocs.io/en/latest/faq.html#f..

Pausing a production (by doing things like bringing up a menu) has always been a bit of a gamble anyway; there are bits of state you really can't put on hold.

There are no newer versions of demos usually, and if it works on C64, fix the emulator, not the demo

Just want to inform you that the demo crashes on 1541U II (Firmware 2.6k) when entering the disk change menu. It's not possible to mount the other disk side as the "down"-key don't work. Trying to leave the 1541U II disk change menu with the middle button results in a total crash of the 1541U II, even RESET don't work after this step. That's the first case of this kind I ever have with a demo on 1541U. A few demos crashes at the disk loader routine but I didn't found any who crashes the whole 1541U hardware. The C64 has to be turned off and on again. Maybe this could be fixed in a newer version on this demo.

This is an absolutely fantastic demo! I love the evil theme, the fire scroller is especially ace, and the SYS 666... Right up my alley! Thought-out ideas and the humor is there. Graphics could improve, and when they do, Atlantis will be a contender for the first spot in upcoming demo compos. Great work guys!
