I'm not surprised at all that most people haven't understood what's really going on in this one as it is all about characters probably known only inside Finnish borders, so here is some background information about the subject.

The bottom line is this: The Suit is (supposed to present) Teuvo Hakkarainen, Finnish first-time politician who has already got lots of bad publicity in both media and government because of his rude statements and other incorrect behaviour, and the cloven-footed fella is Mr. Hakkarainen, comic character created by Mauri Kunnas.

Besides the name these two have also some other somewhat lapsing similarities:

- Mr. Hakkarainen appears in most instances as a sleepwalker who keeps to get found from most obscure happenings being asleep for whole time.
- Teuvo Hakkarainen stated in public being an absolutist just to be found a while later sleeping on a table at local pub in passed out state...

- Most of the stuff Mr. Hakkarainen has ever spoken in any of his appearances has been meaningless babbling in half-asleep state.
- Teuvo Hakkarainen speaks a lot but, like most of the other politicians, haven't ever really said anything meaningful so far.

- Mr. Hakkarainen is fictional character.
- It is hard to believe Teuvo Hakkarainen is not such a thing.

Anyway, couple of weeks ago I had a dream where I was sipping beer in a bar when all of sudden Teuvo Hakkarainen came in wearing an outfit similar to one Mr. Hakkarainen uses, and when I went asking him out of curiosity what's the thing with pyjamas he answered it's a magical nightshirt which allows him to take naps in bars without getting thrown out as everyone knows they are not allowed to wake up sleepwalkers. I don't know where the hell that came from, I don't even do 'shrooms or anything, but memory of that dream refused to go away so I decided to give it a proper home to live instead of annoying my brain every once in a while.

My idea straight from the beginning was to put these characters into a fight due to constantly stepping in each others territory, possibly triggered by goat assaulting Teuvo because of copyright infringement over nightshirt, and the work started in rather different form having a neat fake 3D effect of characters crossing a border in picture. I had a hard time getting the perspective right and eventually found myself being in dead end with morphing background from government enviroment to cartoonish one, so I scrapped that version and decided to start over from different aspect. This time I chose to drag both characters away from their "natural" surroundings so I placed them to classic fighting-game style 2D sideview frame with simplified background to draw focus on battling pair instead of secondary details. Idea of grid fence came from UFC cage match events and bloodthirsty audience from PitFighter, some of most visible figures were stolen and modified from some online image I can't remember address for anymore, rest was made from scratch and extensively used to get around some clashing.

As a Deja-Vu from my First Blood picture I once again couldn't get Teuvo's facial impression satisfying enough withing hires limitations so I used sprites to patch that area among couple of odd pixels elsewhere in the picture. Face still came out as way more cartoonish than how it was the first version so I was bit worried if it would still be recognizable enough, but when thinking of it for a moment I came to the conclusion that goat and name of the picture should probably give out enough hints for Finnish viewers to figure out the rest by themshelves. As the picture already resembled some pseudo-Street Fighter screenshot I slapped some usual fighting game stuff around and personified those power-o-meters to match with characters. After that it was time to start editing out all the clashes and some overlay stuff that exceeded the sprite layer limitations, which took surprisingly long time, before shoving the result thru vicpack to make it executable.

This picture wasn't originally ment as a compo entry at all, but as it was based on subject familiar for rather limited audience thus being probably unable to stand out on its own I just thought what would be better place to release this than Finnish party, so there it went: Hopefully it resulted some good laughs.
