Mistaking CSDb for the boards and not even taking it to the forum - shame on you Trissi ...

Next to _certain_ other well known individuals from the foggy days of "scene" you seem to be the only one actually having a need to mention the fucked up american/canadian lines we had to use to get something over to the Empire dudes. Wonder why I had to teach them (de)-levelpacking in 1992 still - the number one in the US and Canada!
Nah - Booze, Intruder, Rich and that Euro "HOK" made Empire famours and cool to deal with and that's it.

All I remember about you and a call we had:
"Don't use AT&T to call me - they just busted me. MCI is ok though!" ... and then lots of boasting without much substance on technical details.

(Indeed - his line was blacklisted and cards died when calling him as well as conference calls were said to have been impacted ... )

Could it be you take you shoulder surf action at the local bus station to rip off grandma Edison's calling card a little too big? YOU didn't supply _thousands_ of cards to the scene. TRSI indeed had a famous name for that which you surely know - even personally, I bet. You have to! Even I do! Being a retarded cracker knowing shit about blueboxing, calling cards, PBXs and the shit YOU are definately cool at. Oh, wait - thats knowledge nobody gives a damn about anymore. Yieks! Stuck in the past...

*NOW* start the drama!

PS: JSL's pics are - well - time wasting to me. But ppl enjoy all sorts of things. Fine with me if it doesn't stop me from getting wasted :)

Maybe we need a special database for former couriers. They can credit themselves for everything they ever downloaded from one BBS and uploaded to another, and have massive wank circles where they tell eachother how great and skilled they are for it. Because they were IMPORTANT, really. It's not like anyone could just pull a random local lamer off the street, give them some codes and have them move warez around. Being a courier took REAL SKILLZ (tm), like being able to watch TV while files transferred, learning not to bump the phone line out while you wanked, and keeping family members from picking up an extension and breaking the connection. REAL SKILLZ! (tm) Not like pixelling, composing, cracking, coding, and stuff like that - those things anyone can do.

@ tristan: you accuse jsl to do this for the attention - but looking at all the shit you wrote WE ALL CAN CLEARLY SEE WHO THE REAL ATTENTION WHORE IS! so here is some attention from me: FUCK YOU!
this also goes out to all the people who call everything "drama" and ridicule discussions that way - please be polite and fuck off!

But how is trying to convince the moderators to eager "clean up the database" or "ban jsl, he sucks" NOT messing with the database, even if indirectly? :) In law, for TRYING to kill your neighbor you get sentenced as well as for actually KILLING your neighbor (not in the same way, but still). So what action did you take in this particular case? I'm curious...

I suggest you convince Perff to add a tool to move certain comments to a forum. That might help to clean up polluted release comment and might even lead to less nonsense here.

What really makes me wonder, is the fact that others got banned here by the famous nazi moderators for the silliest reasons one can imagine. But persecuting an individual with nothing else then personal insult will never ever trigger that at all.

let me try a short answer, because i really think we should get these comments back on track and answer questions like where the hell this atomic acid spill happened that spawned these cute purple dolphins :)

traditionally a high level of "ragging" has been tolerated (and it must be taken completely seperated from cases where people mess with the database). then in this case suddenly, just by peer review, the right thing happened before further intervention was required and the message got across (i hope, we will see). as a moderator i prefer this over making these arbitrary silly decisions =)

@Tristan: I really can understand your demand for praise, since you really might have played a bigger role for the success of empire, but you suffer the same problem as most of the "second line of defence": Demanding the praise is all you got left. Other names are remembered for their genius, you are just remembered as a bystander. You can't cope with that, we all already understood. The people you mentioned, that knoeki should ask for your reputation: I'm sure Dirk (Irata) gives as shit and Frank (Streetuff) proves at a minimum of once every half year that he definately deserves respect, he even IMPROVES his reputation every single time! So please, do the same or shut the fuck up. And leave Johan alone.

@Fungus: Come on, tell you nick(s). I did! (But I will never ever upload any of my early releases ;) )

@JSL: Johan, just go on. In the late 80ies/early 90ies, Tristan won't get tired to mention how great they were, people would have been happy to have pictures like yours in their demos/mags.

Tristan: A lot of whine comming for you, sur you don't wan't some cheese to go with it?

Anyway, thanx for the tears, taste marvelous... Old and bitter, just the way I like'em. Keep'em comming and cudos on your (well hidden) hero-achievements (which as I understood, consited mainly of organizatory skills which these days is most suited for hair dressers, interior decorators or, last but not least, dog walkers).

Please if you have any other talents which you think relevant, I'm currently employing. If not, you're unfortunately not made it to the second round (somehow I get the feeling you hear that a lot (NB! Personal perception alert!)).

Yes this was an unprovoked personal attack <- See what I did there Tristran? Yes that's right, I did what you did. Even with your shriveled imagination you should understand that even though you don't care and is able to not take things personally (coz face it, that's what a mean tough cold hearted leet' pro like your self should do (probably as a result of too little contac with your mothers breasts during childhood) there are others which might do.

Anyway, I'd better get back to reviewing these CV's..... So many morons who think they know shit and once put to the test crash and burn misserably...

JSL: Take heart in the fact that you're dealing with vermin and screw all dilettantes who can't do anything else than to pick on the ones they find lesser then themselves to try to achieve some kind of "cred" for it.

Pathetic and nothing but a waste of space.

Tristan: I have much better things to do than bother arguing with someone of such limited intelligence as you. I just like to get some good ole raggin practice in now and then, and you were an easy target. But now I've grown bored of you, as you have nothing interesting to say in return. I really don't care what you post to or about me, other people just mention it on irc (you know, where the scene hangs out) and I come have a look. Besides the drama entertains people, and I like to do that, cuz I'm good at it, like everything else I do. But I digress, boring is boring, and boring is you.

Nay, Yer Highness, I'm no worthy of Yer Mighty words. I'm greatly honoured to receive those bits of Yer Mighty Wisdom and Intercontinental Clear View. No detail can leave Yer omnipresent sense and stone cold logic unaware.

I have no musical hearing and can't do any good with any instrument and never clubbed for 20 years in smoke and light and shit. All you can find are just coincidences. Some favours I did for people and they let me in their circles as an exchange, I never produced anything really. I just put a picture of Aphex on my avatar from the times when he had his original masculine genitals. I just wanted to be like Thou. Soooooo much you would never imagine.

Yer right on that, we played in one band with Fungus and Groepaz, they were on one side of the iron fence I'm on the other. We never met but it was around the times when we did all gals you ever wanted but you were too Élite to do that. How stoopid we were! How right Thou were! So much of Yer determination, bravery and Élite Highness was needed for that.

So please Yer Highness don't call us 'brothers' we are not worthy of that. Besides many acts were unclean back in time. Too many smoke and light and shit, and gals, some MILFs even.

Yer Highness... Some or more of us here may be Yer daddy. Maybe it was me, Groepaz or Fungus, yer never know. He was a ladykiller beast in his prime I tell ya. You can't call us 'brothers'. It would not be right.

But we're old now even for smoke and light and shit, finding fun only in doing all the peasant redneck things to produce something on this obsolete machine when time away from smoke light and shit allows. Oh and having precious discussion with Yer Élite Higness. That, we greatly enjoy, more than you would think.

Our dream is to be Élite one day and start to develop a fine craptitude. Talking down on people is the only way to prove we are worthy.

Teach us Yer Highness.

@ JSL:

I think, that you can release gfx as much as you want. The people who don't wanna see it, DON'T need to view your pics. Just ignore it, or not! I guess this is basicly a "free" community. So everyone can release what he wants. With a small amount of comprehensible exceptions.

The time and vision used to create a work of art is far more important than making useless quotas and meeting non-existent deadlines.

Sceners of today have that luxury when It wasn't possible in the old days.

Take advantage of it and impress us.

Well, I for one would certainly REALLY like to see what you could come up with if you spent one month on a picture instead of a week! ;-) So why don't you give it a try?
I think your way of doing gfx is too ADD, that you'll get bored with any given pic after a week max. And greatness can only be achieved if you manage to stick with a pic, through good and bad, until you reach a certain degree of perfection! ;-)

P.S: I see no black outlines in this pic apart from the letters, so yay! ;-D \o/

basically Tristan is against me, my graphics and my uploads. Others do
encourage me, to keep going. The release rate I took since 2011 is one graphic
each week, if that you dislike I could ofcourse pixel my ass off, and release
once a month. I read somewhere that I still don't show progress on pixeling,
well I keep pixeling on the same basis, that I use black outlines is one thing
*you* don't like. And the thing Groepaz said on Piranha (that it's good enough for
a 5 year old) well, Piranha got last place in that compo, I just had an excisting
picture called Bathing, of girls bathing near a waterfall. Unlucky me, choose this
one because I just didn't had other pictures with the theme Veto came with "water",
the piranha was a 2nd picture, and crap is was.. So I added that to the Bathing
scene. Since January 2011 I am pixeling again, after some burnout. I started a new
way of pixeling, using my own sketches. Somewhere I read that most of these sketches
are childish c64 pictures, well then I cannot draw good enough. You get more of
them in the future. And the fact that I have all the free time and no job, means
I pixel and pixel and each week about 6-7 new c64 pics get finished, while upping
one to CSDb. I have just over 200 unreleased pictures, and what else I can do with
them then to upload to a c64 database. If you dislike my pictures, I could ofcourse
have a pause on uploading, then I go for next year again, but then you hear from my
mouth, I have 100 pictures more to it. Where to go with them...

Idea!!
-------------
scene 1.
beatifull day!! .. Water and the Island only.. water waving!..

scene 2. Dolphin jumps up.. logo fades in!! and the Drama of the year! scroller ;)

scene 3. weather goes bad with storms
exho turns to different nouances ;) happy to angry dependent on the scroll... ;) and ofcoz some movements added to the Dolphin.. ;)

nice reading indeed..
Hello Tristan I see you haven't changed a bit! ;)

The Scene is fucking a live and kicking ;) second biiig drama yihhaa!! ..

and JSL get your team members to do some demos with your material...
slide shows or cartoon stories about the scene ;) , those use to be very popular on the papermags. I mean your style would fit that very well..

And then that would suite your creativity aswell where people could follow how you perceive the scene ;)
JSL's World! true story based on a C64 Island ;) bla bla bla...

@funkus: ur raising a family and enjoying life? rly? wow ur a pretty sad excuse for a pimp if you ended up getting ur own whores pregnant. At least no one in the c64 scene will get pregnant because of your stupidity. We all know that you are not happy. Otherwise, you wouldn't wake up first thing and check csdb to see what mighty Tristan has said about you. We all can see that these are your peers and you need their respect to feel good about yourself. Its simple psychology BRO. I can tell this is starting to unravel you, so... I'll take it easy on you from now on.

Well, Thou Mighty Sir Arthur Tristan Highness in Thy crusade, Thy truth is always right in Thy head to kill the fiwlth what Thou believe to be fiwlth to be killed but respect is all about good attitude on the long run. Thou can't impress people by beheading whom Thou just don't like these days.

In that mean, reading Thy answers as Thou started instant counterflaming anyone who disagreed Thou, Thou art a refugee here. Behaving like a 12-years owld zapped child throwing fiwlth. Bad shine on whatever Thou used to do in Thy greatness. And Thou art, fourty-what...?

Alas, it will be a popular read and Thy posts remain here degrading Thy rawstey respect lower and below, day by day. Now that is history. It will always be a nice example to demonstrate fiwlthey attitude for anyone. All we active redneck peasants beg to say thank Thou for the show Sir Élite Highness for Thy most shiney mark @CSDb in Thy mighty history :)

I just have to comment again... What some do not understand is that this is art on the c64... it is not airbrush, it is not photoshop and it is nothing that is in real world art scene today... this is c64 and man this image and a lot of others that jsl do is playful, not hype, not the current fashion and not the cool in news or whatever... that is something that make our scene special, kill it if you want... i love it and will always go for this... and also i must say that this image that create so much posts... hmmm... it is actually a c64 image that is rather uniq, it is simple but still detailed and i like it a lot! Stop beeing asshores, just ignore if one do not like it... why would you spend much time on anything in life if you do not like it... really? why... what is it with the ones doing that? When i have done that it is because i have been in a bad situation in life... and that is the truth... LOVE!

Just a sidenote... what jsl did in this with the values of water and mountain and sky and dolphin actuallt make it very special on the c64 art scene because he uses some odd way of making each layer or part very different and it is almost as i never have seen a such image! But i am just a idiot so do not mind my comments!

As someone else around here who tries to do new stuff and learn new stuff but gets whacked on the head for doing so (you know who you are) without any offering of teaching or help, then let me just say to JSL that you should keep up the work and the releases. I particularly find this pic to be very nice. The artist has a STYLE to his drawing and people will either like it or dislike it, it's all personal preference.

As for bashing JSL and his art, that just shows a complete lack of self-esteem and respect for others. Don't like it? Fine, downvote it. That's your right. Don't like it? Fine, say so here. Don't like it? Fair enough, but what purpose would it serve to go on a diatribe about how you're all big and bad and we're all just lamer n00bz?

I felt sorry for him and sent him a simple msg suggesting a few things to lessen the harsh criticisms. He said he would just keep doing what he was going to do. I even tried to point out something in one of his pics but no response. Here is a mighty fine example...

People can release what they want if they choose to. We all have our own approach/decision on what we should bring to the public. It is simple as that.

Regarding Tristan's background, there is no need to question it, if you struggle to understand the musings of organising a cracking group during the prime of the commercial scene, then that is okay.

Let's get back to the release itself please or move this conversation to a new forum.

That's entirely the point. No one gives a shit in 2013. It's stupid crap you did as a teenager or young adult. This is just a hobby now for everyone. Also, who gives a fuck about a dead bbs from 20 years ago? How many of those people are still around now? Or care? Probably 0. The pissing contest is long fucking over dude, so get over it, get over yourself. Stop shitting on others work, of which you have no skill to do yourself, you just look the fool. Again, Have a nice day <3

JSL, if you're still reading the comments here, please keep drawing and releasing pictures and don't worry too much about the votes or overly negative comments. Remember that there are many people who like what you do, and that a new picture from you brightens their day a little.

No need to contact them directly. It's out in the open to see for everyone what a sad little lamer you are (:

Yes, maybe "back in da daze" you were some hotshot, but apparently all you were good for, scene wise, has apparently been phased out.
And that's fine. Nothing wrong with that, and nothing wrong with maybe being proud of the things you've done.

But your high and mighty attitude is what makes you a lamer. Practice, don't preach.

Hmmm...

Dink is an ex-meth dealer/cooker/addict, reputable!

Anyways this is all besides the point, let me once again, point you towards the door. There it is over there, don't let it hit your ass on your way out. Have a nice day! <3

Heh FUNGUS you just proved that you know nothing. Check this out... this other lamer xmikex was asking me things one day around early 2000's about scene shit. I made up some shit to make him sound like an idiot. He asked something about groups or some shit i was involved in from the 80's. I told him there was a group called HACKER BROTHERS INC. ROFL it was an amazing underground elite group that was uber secret and ran everything. hahah he took the bait and still mentions it every rare moment i log into #c-64. And guess what, you are now idiot #2 to actually mention HBI. ROFL u have made my day for the second damn time. Ur the best BRO

You think I'm angry? No just lol'ing it up. Also I'm not your BRO, so don't ever call me that. I did nothing of note before under my old handles, but I was around, and know plenty. PS, I'm good friends with Vizz and other Empire members, and I remember a lot shit talking about you ;) BTW what type of work did you do for HBI again? Seriously though, you over estimate your worth in the scene, yes it takes more than crackers and coders and sysops to run a group and beat the rush. It also requires respect and trust, a couple of things I doubt you have anymore. At least you're not showing any respect here at all. WHY are YOU so mad? I seriously wonder, wait no I don't, couldn't care less. As I said, if you don't give a shit about the scene now or csdb, again, go the fuck away, no ones gonna miss you.

lol @ fungus. y u so mad bro? so, you had some accomplishment from the late 80's but u dont want to reveal the handle because it was too good because you were busy playing a a rock star in real life having lots of sex not impressing nerds. But in 2013 you are not having sex, not being a rock star, and impressing 2013 c64 internet scene nerds. seems legit to me

Tristan: I was around, since late 80's. Maybe I didn't always use FUNGUS handle idiot. Maybe also I had a fucking life, like playing in bands, and getting laid, and partying with REAL PEOPLE instead of being a stupid nerd playing with computers trying to be cool to other stupid nerds playing with computers. I know some of what you did, but you're mostly a phreaker, big woop, your no different than a fucking COURIER in my and other people's eyes who actually have some SKILL at something other than hacking a fucking pbx. WHY aren't your accomplishments listed here? Simply because you've done nothing notable except bitch and whine. You want respect and give none, you trash on people who are just trying to have a good time on a computer they have fond memories of, AS A HOBBY. Get fucking real, it's 2013, no one cares a fuck about your bullshit. If you don't like here or in the scene, GO THE FUCK AWAY.

"I do admire guys making quaity gfx like jailbird, dk, joe, etc."

you can find ugly stuff from these aswell from their early years, you have to start somewhere.

an then you have taste which is something personal, even a picasso that looks like sh.. gets admired by some so there is no reason to bash on the painter nor the ones who fancy that kind of art. If everyone had the same taste it would be a boring world ;)

Here is a bit of real information you guys can write down for your magazine and history books. Most of functions for releasing something in the old days was achieved by things that happened behind the scenes. The only credit and ranking we needed was winning the first release. That was enough. The pride of knowing that working as a team, in all functions and capacity, won the first release. Later on it was slightly flattering, but eventually superficial, to get ranked in scroll texts. And then the charts in magazines that inflated egos on a monthly basis. At the end of the entire thing the history was skewed and twisted. Its nearly impossible to claim who won what in a certain period. This is why people who are trying to set the record straight still send me messages asking what happened in those days. Mason and Jazzcat are two good examples of people who were from the later part of that period who ask me questions about releases from time to time. I cannot remember all of the shit. But I will tell you that I remember kicking plenty of ass from those days and they do as well. I do admire guys making quaity gfx like jailbird, dk, joe, etc. I enjoy many new sceners works more than old guys. I cannot tell you how excited I was sitting down at x2000 and talking to new school sceners about the c64 while even fellow members of my group were constantly going on about old school old school old school. I get just as excited to see a booze design or other modern demo as I did seeing a esi release in the 80's. The thrill is still there for me but I feel like its all a joke when ppl sucumb to allowing sub-standard shit to continue without insisting change and improvement.

Tristan: I find it amazing how someone who doesn't even know me supposedly knows so much about me and what I know. What a few sceners seem to not realize is that the time they're bragging about is long gone. They still act as if they're some kind of heroes and demand respect that they don't really deserve anymore, considering how they treat others. We're not in 1985 anymore, and based solely on your behaviour, you do not deserve any respect at all while you more or less demand it from others. As said before, if you hate it so much here, just go away.

releasing as much as possible as fast as possible applied to wining races on boards and mail scene. and in 86 it was more about mail scene. this concept didnt apply to demo making or drawing pics. how can you even get these two things confused? u also dont have a fkn clue. you may command respect with your modern day activities and position here, but that doesnt impress me. again stop talking about things you are only aware of from reading history that guys like me made from that period.

People should release what they want. Amazing enough that the 8bit scene for c64 is still going strong. If it was 1000 pictures that are identical but just some minor color changes then it would be a different story

SPAMMING the site with rls after rls of basically the same thing IS THE PROBLEM. I'm not the first to mention this. Sort some rule to decrease the frequency of this shit. if jsl was decent he would at least spare us and release this stuff in a pack once a month and include a multi scene gif for the pic.

@Tristan: doodling or not dooling is not the issue here, the issue we are speaking is that many ppl think (among them myself) this release isn't a doodle, its maybe look childish at the first place but it also called Art . if we look in he c64 past times lets say '1985-'1987 a lot of pictures were pretty "uncool" but we still love them and repsect the ppl who made'em. i hope JSL will continue to release his stuff here.

Hey JSL, I'd have so many things to say, but I'll (try to) keep it short. I hope I'll contribute something useful.

First off, you've got something that deserves admiration and praise: huge passion. By all means, keep it on fire.
Then, you enjoy immensely what you're doing: by all, means keep it going.
Finally, you wish to share what you create: by all means, keep on doing it (but don't forget that doing so exposes you to the opinion of other people, and that such opinion might be right even when it's not pleasant).

That all said, ask yourself: do I want to get better? If the answer is yes, then here are some starting clues for you.
You have huge passion: excellent. You have some pixel technique: good starting point, but that's an area where you have lots of room for improvement. What you need most is familiarity with drawing: you need to learn about shapes and lighting, and then perspective and composition. I'm under the impression that you focus a lot on technique, but, at the same time, are completely unaware that it's those fundamental concepts that you're missing. Those concepts are not relative to any specific technique: it doesn't matter if you're pixelling, or inking, or painting, or whatever. I suggest you simply grab a book about the basics of drawing and a pencil: drawing on paper should make things easier. If you find it boring and desperately need to push pixels, then go for pixels, but be aware that the pixelling won't help keeping the focus.
There's one place on the net that it's perfect for pixellers who want to improve: if you don't know it already, it's called Pixelation (http://www.wayofthepixel.net/pixelation/index.php). There, you can get tons of precious hints/criticism/suggestions/lesson/etc. also by pixel masters (even professionals who work in the games industry). Go there, register, post one of your WIP works or one that you feel that it could use some improvement. Be patient, listen to the criticism, apply the suggestions you're given, interact constantly with who tries to help you out, don't be afraid. It's a sort of pixel school where somebody with your drive can really grow a lot.

As long as you refuse to provide any samples of what you've done, I don't really see what kind of rights you have to act like this and complain about what others do. If you hate it so much, just stop visiting this site. Personally I think you're overestimating your contributions to the scene based on what you're telling...

This is just some of my work from the years 1991 and 1992. Empire

Do you know that it takes more than a cracker or ntsc fixer to win a release? That its a group effort to make sure a team becomes number one? These days you have the internet where all communication is basically free. Empire became #1 not by the internet and csdb. We became #1 partly because I could use my hacking skills at the time to keep our overseas contacts happy, keep the drive xfers running, and group members able to pass work amongst each other. Of course you internet c64 sceners cannot comprehend that.

I am telling you that I dont have to prove shit about what I did in a time when there was more to being a scener than making shit. Do you even know what it takes to win first releases globally in the 80's? No you dont' So go back to buying originals off ebay and spending months to make jewel releases when there is no competition. I need to prove myself against someone who spamms the board nonstop with garbage c64 childrens doodles?! LOL this place.

I'm not implying anything at all. All I (and some others) are asking, is if you can provide some examples of your work since you seem to have no problems bragging about "everything you did". But so far, you haven't been able to come up with anything. Exactly why should anyone at all care what you think?

If its not listed here on csdb, then it never happened ::rolls eyes::

You think the c64 scene was ran by shitty gfx prods in the old days? LOL, if thats what you are asking me to provide then sorry you wont be getting proof of that. The fact that Empire reigned supreme in a time of the commercial scene is partly due to my efforts. Of course you guys wouldnt understand what it took to win in a time when a commercial scene existed. Its pointless for me to even talk about it. Go back to neatly filing all these great new jsl pics since thats what the "Scene" is about.

fungus: you came around to the c64 scene when? 1994? lol you have no clue about my accomplishments in the real c64 scene because you wern't around in a time to understand how it even worked. You are like the rest of the "Sceners" who come around in a time when the c64 commercialy is dead and all you guys do is read old magazine and try to imitate a period in history you weren't around for. You think because my lists of accomplishments aren't listed, catagorized, neatly filed, and dated, and ranked in this fkn site that i've never did anything? lol wow u have no clue. I've been a driving force in groups to win first releases in a time when a commercial scene existed. What have you done? Make special versions of 30 year old games in 2013? Don't run ur lip about things you know nothing about. Go read some old mag interview, scroll texts, and board caps about me. Ask anyone from the real days of the c64 about me. I've got nothing to prove to you.

guess this is what happens when people are mixing up a database as social media platform.

jsl: actually i do like many of your recent pics. many motives really show positive vibes. tbh not this one, because i just love the realistic look and skin of the mega drive original (which is also not very detailed) and imo you reduced the level of detail to a minimum here.

i tend to watch the motive only and not to think about your pixel technique, because imo trying to get a picture done in - let's say - 3 hours, it is more a matter of luck if the picture turns out good or bad (esp using amica paint). and i guess this is also the case why it is hard to imagine, how the peoples reaction will be.

told you this before: with your productivity rate i'd seriously try 4-color-animations. instead of 3-6 pictures a weekend this would be a solid amount of frames...

Tristan, the scene is not what it used to be, we're a bunch of old farts not able to let our child computer go. JSL enjoys drawing pictures and getting some feedback on it here. It's not that everyone thinks he is the best gfxman in the world, we just share interest, and cheer that he is doing his part in his way in all of this. We're not children anymore to piss on some1s work just becasue it's "not good enough". Get over it, the best still get the recognition they deserve dont worry.

It's probably not the "greatest" piece of art ever on the C64 but it's a lot better than I (or indeed a lot of people on this site) could do and good on the artist for "having a go" !! To those of you criticising give the guy a break, he's doing what he can and presumably learning more in the process.

I think it's not about quantity, it's just about quality.

And you must support the bad/good critics and no complain.

You must sit down and think about your childish style too.

One think it's that you love your art but that not make it good to others eyes , not bad either.

Pixel and enjoy because you love but not for glory because you'll not get that here.

You are not a great graphician, but neither the worse. Accept that and you´ll live better...

All I keep hearing is how much he contributes to the "Scene"... the scene? the scene!?... the scene. sigh... ok, look if this is such a particular part of this precious thriving scene here on csdb, then you guys can have it. It's just not for me. I'm fairly sure other old-timers share the same sentiment as I do. Since there are so many of you, and so few of me, I will bid you farewell. This place just isn't for me. CBA created this account for me as a place-marker in 2004. Hopefully my account can be erased and you guys can go on with your "Scene" and I can choose to start calling the boards again and get my demo news from pouet.

It's just I have too many C64 works made, I have a C64 at parents, and one here in Venray, I have no job so I can pixel all the time. That I release once a week a picture is that I like CSDb, and getting rid of the C64 works I did, I am not the kind of graphician who does 1 job in months, I pixel alot. Last weekend I sent my contacts 7 new pictures. Often I come with heaps of new pictures, what to do with them, ofcourse "upload them", with just 1 picture upping and doing 7 more of them, I got a Pc full of maps, over 200 unreleased pictures since I started pixeling again in January 2011, then there are also the 13 ROLE slideshows, which bear each 3 pics. Comes to it. This is some awesome collection, no other graphician in C64 scene has. They just pixel, and upload, and think about the next one. I pixel in massive loads of pictures. I must loose them. I already spoke earlier in a comment of upping twice a week. But now this on Ecco, I release Shit. And too many.

That I release Shit just means I am a not that good skilled graphician in the c64 scene. I do my best in pixeling. And perhaps it's also that some of you don't respect me. And Necropolo .. It's all about pixeling, I like pixeling on the C64. You see that in your Email when I send my contacts the hard work I did. And yes Ecco is a copy of the original title screen from the Megadrive Console game, sorry for that. JSL coming with Shit all the time, can you do better in pixeling Tristan?, Leon/Singular often comes around with a new piece, but no one complains about his works. He has Respect in the scene, JSL just hasn't. Sometimes I pick a art piece from my Maps, thinking This One Is Cool, much work involved. And it gets a 6 as vote. Lateron the 5's and 3's are coming. Ofcourse there are some sceners who like my art, why would they download it 40 times and over.. I wonder what Tristan sent to the Mods, I have a guess: JSL comes with Shit Art, please Ban him from CSDb.

tristan> Gropeass: I released things since the 80's when the c64 was relevant.

How about uploading some of these 80's releases and leave this pic alone already? It's a decent fullscreener and that's it.
Also 2010 called and wants the infernally frustrating originality vs copying -discussion back.

The thing that is very up in the daylight is that all must comment on stuff they do not like, even they do not make anything themself... it is like there is no-one-creating-stuff-but-all-hold-a-feedback-inside... make the feedback alive, just make it sometimes... because it is the ones just sitting on the fence that make us that really do create the most to be sad and unhappy... it is just simply really sad... in a way, a one pixel image is better than most of the feedback on here!

JSL: Keep em comming... you make lots of great images, some less and some great... so that is your art and way... welcome anyday. If i were to be sad because you release something i better stop doing c64 at the age of almost 40... come on dudes... enjoy or do not look at it!

I didn't know for sure if it was from Nintendo.. And regarding the Voting Score it gets, I delivered a crap picture this time, not new..since it was made a year ago, but next thing would be that some other graphicians (I don't give names) come with their new graphic piece here on Db, not so skilled artists, which blow you away with an awesome 9.5 - No, JSL isn't the greatest, but there came some graphics around, looking at them I had pictures which where better, but getting heaps of downvotes. Yeah, I deliver crap. Enjoy the Ecco remake. ;-)

Not so much Nintendo as it was originally developed by SEGA for the current king of the hill console Mega Drive in 1992. However, it was much later released for Nintendo's Virtual Console in 2006. I remember how astonished I was by the smooth animations of the dolphin's movements. Never really got into the gameplay though.
