Kong Level 1 [1994]
Around 1994, a programmer called Frank, required graphics, for a Kong style game. Blackknight/Entropy hooked Frank up with Wile Coyote. The plan included the creation of 8 levels. Levels 1-4 were to be based on the original 4 levels from Donkey Kong/Nintendo. Levels 6-8 were to be completely original. Levels 1-4 were to scroll vertically. Levels 5-8 were to scroll horizontally.
Kong Level 1 [1994] shows a preview of Level 1. It is quite an early preview. The graphics were improved later on, to remove all signs of colour bleed on the ladders. The plan was to retain the clean cut look of the originals graphics, without falling into the trap of it looking like a ZX Spectrum game. The large ape was designed to have the look of a large sprite. In reality the large ape is constructed from characters.
Not shown during the preview, is the animated fire on the oil drum.
The background graphics were created using GEd

To get way from the name Kong, one suggestion was LOTYA (Land Of The Yellow Ape). A logo, inspired very much by posters from1960s horror films, was created.
The LOTYA logo appears during GFX-Col.1 [logos]/Angry [1997]
