Alien Bar/WEC

Created 1994:
Gunpaint/Jan Zimmermann [1994]

Released 20th November 1994

Based on the image No. 221, Friedrich Kuhn II/HR Giger [1973]. I just love the work of Swiss surrealist painter, sculptor, set designer, HR Giger. Friedrich Kuhn II became the choice for my second IFLI, as I wanted to create an image filled with lots of detail, and lots of interesting goings on. Using Gunpaint/Jan Zimmermann [1994] one of the aims was to create an IFLI that flickered as little as possible. The only human in the image, painter Friedrich Kuhn, died one month after the photo on which Friedrich Kuhn II was based, was taken, of alcoholism. Alien Bar represents about 50% of the height of Friedrich Kuhn II. The name Alien Bar came about, as to me, the image looks like some crazy alien filled bar.

Alien Bar’97/WEC, an improved version of Alien Bar, appeared during the demo Half Baked/WoW [1998]
