Don't add that to this entry, it's for the version released in the RGCD compo only and not later versions.

Hi, just uploaded version 1.2, which should fix all know bugs, particulary these glitching sprites. Thanks for all the feedback!
@robozz: shot sound had to be cut out in the last minute, because I ran out of space. It might come back in the cartridge edition.

"interestingly, the Android version of Vice also showed the borked font in the non-fixed build."
that must be based on x64, and some version after 2.4 then (soci fixed it in x64 around february, after the 2.4 release)

I think the music is great actually! But yes, there are some nasty sprite bugs (mainly bullets in vertical scrolling rooms). That will no doubt come in a post compo fix/final version. The fix here was just to get the font to display on real hardware.

@Groepaz - interestingly, the Android version of Vice also showed the borked font in the non-fixed build.

A very nice game, but it should have had sound effects only instead of the boring music, jumping sound but no shooting sound also doesn't feel quite right... And what about the sprite bugs?

Fixed version uploaded (only includes the font bug fix).

I think it is unfair to penalise the developer for a minor bug when the game was developed solely in VICE (which did not show the problem). Lesson learned? Real HW FTW!

i was wrong. (this was sure an interesting bug ...) x64 and 1541u (and EF) are correct. it was broken in x64sc (fixed in svn now) and still is in chameleon. also, it really is a bug in the program - $31 is written to $01 and then the character rom copied to ram. this however doesnt work in 16k game cartridge mode, as the character rom is not mapped then. (that also explains why it works in the crack - the crack isnt running as 16k cartridge) here is a testprogram :)

YEah running it as default cart from the BIN file yields the same results. 1541U incompatibility I guess, then. Those with 1541Us should stick to the Onslaught version!

Damn Groepaz, that IS reassuring but now I have to burn it to a real EPROM and PCB to check for reals ;)

What happened to your game anyway? ;)

it works just right on chameleon btw, so this is clearly a 1541U problem.

Test loading the .bin version as a custom rom, after a cold boot. That is the best way to run carts on a U2 - closest to real thing as possible on this device :)

-EDIT- Oh balls, seems to still have the same issue. Will contact Matt and let him know. Thank fuck it isn't a game breaking bug :/

I confirm the bugs running on my C64C with 1541U-II, while the Onslaught version runs fine with no broken charset. 1541U incompatibility or something else?

Yes iAN, I've just been advised by Akira (who has been testing all the games on his U2 whilst on FB chat) that indeed the font is borked on the U2. Not sure if I managed to fuck up the file when uploading *or* if it works on a real 16kb cart but not the U2. D64 cracks seem to not have this issue so I suggest it may be a CRT incompatibility with the U2.

Bokanoid: it also happens on vice 2.45 x64.exe but not on x64sc.exe where the charset is displayed correctly.
I'm also told that happens on real c64 with 1541u2 attached.
The Onslaught release seems to work. Try that on your C64 and report back =)
