It's not "broken" per se but a combination of bad packer (leaves stack pointer set to $ff after unpack and apparently that clashes with the bad code of the intro) and a badly coded init, it doesn't set $d012 when setting $0314 vectors, so it's prone to simply randomly fail to start.
Also, unpacking and exomizing it always works for me, so the demo actually is working.
Quick patch: load, enter monitor
> 08aa A2 F6 9A 2C
x
then run.
Added a patched d64

To run the demo: just run until crash and then do SYS 8704.

dir looks fishy, SYS-LINE might also cause trouble, interrupts might better be turned off and no idea what else is might go wrong in lower memory before and while decrunching (either due to ori problems or bad copy)

But try this in WinVICE after LOAD"*",8
(NOT! ,8,1)

WinVICE Mon
>81f 78
g 81f

Klick "Cancel" on JAM report and the demo should run

Dunno what's wrong here. Transfer was fine, but the demo bugs completely.
