Weird one - seems to be a little bit of luck wether the game irq kicks in or not.
I was successful several times with the first three trainers and rest on default - though the memory cheats also look ok.
Release is indeed sort of broken (even if not always) - the file is fine however.

Select no to all the trainers and select to start at level 1 and it gets to the game menu and plays fine. Something is definitely broken with the trainer menu when it goes to alter memory based on chosen options...
