OK ?!? Thought with my monitor on top i would get most randomized d800 upper bits from that em stray fields. I'll write a small test prg to output those rnd bits to the screen, so i can see how my 128d performs.

this uses the high nibbles at $D8xx to generate random numbers, looks like your c128D doesn't have noise in those high nibbles?
try changing
.C:083a A9 D8 LDA #$D8
with
.C:083a A9 D0 LDA #$D0
.C:083a A9 DC LDA #$DC
.C:083a A9 00 LDA #$00
to get different "random" bytes

Maybe it's a C128D and/or 1541U issue. I can see the grey bars, only.
No patterns. Sorry. Any ideas?
