@ZeSmasher & @Jammer: Philips Videopac G7000 it is... First C64 machine language game coded ever btw...
@Roysterini: try to update your .ini file. That might work. | User Comment Submitted by Goat on 3 July 2018
So far I have only programmed and published several games and demos for the VCS. I always planned to write a game for the G7000 or the Interton VC4000, but the time... the time. | User Comment Submitted by Shadow on 3 July 2018
I have recently coded for both platforms (Atari 2600 and G7000) and I can assure you that the G7000 is worse in pretty much every aspect.
The extra 128 bytes RAM you are talking about is not general purpose RAM, it's the audio/video memory where the grid-definitions, sprite defintions etc. reside.
As far as CPU, the 8048 is way worse than a 650x and can for example not access data crossing 256-byte boundaries in an easy way etc. and the real clock it is running on is divided quite a bit from the "main clock", if I recall correctly it's ticking along at some 3-400kHz only in a G7000/O2!
Anyway, this comment section is probably not the correct place for this discussion! :) | User Comment Submitted by Goat on 3 July 2018
No, it was better in some aspects (64 B + 128 B RAM), ROM (1 kB), CPU-speed.
However, it was worse in amount of colours (16) and sound (mono voice) for example. | User Comment Submitted by Shadow on 3 July 2018
The G7000 hardware was far WORSE than the VCS. Only 64 bytes RAM compared to 128 on the VCS, slow and crappy 8048 compared to the 6507 on the VCS etc. etc. | User Comment Submitted by Goat on 3 July 2018
Outside of europe, the "Philips Videopac G7000" was known as the "Magnavox Odyssey 2".
The hardware was even better than the Atari VCS, because it had 64 Bytes more RAM, a 1kB ROM and the CPU was 5 times faster... | User Comment Submitted by Smasher on 2 July 2018
more Philips Videopac than Atari I think | User Comment Submitted by Jammer on 1 July 2018
Cool, simple idea straight from Atari 2600 flag titles. Real fun begins with level Hard ;) | User Comment Submitted by Roysterini on 1 July 2018
Couldn't get off the first screen on emulator. Spacebar did nothing.
Worked fine on hardware though. |
