Shit! I just noticed this entry is actually illegal. it uses $0801-$46a1 (unpacked), but also $0400-$044f for the color-cycling text, so it breaks the 16kb contiguous-memory rule.

Pulling it from the compo.

@Hein: yeah, the purple background with the big blocky black outlines actually make it look quite nice, which kind of broke the intended ugliness, luckily the stretcher is still butt ugly, not to mention the code, real old school spaghetti crap ;)

@TDJ: 20+ years indeed (not counting tools). Still four weeks left, maybe I can do another entry with some proper graphics, if I can find the bugs in my editors :)

Not that ugly, but yeah, the stretching sine could have been better. :)

Wow, I guess this is your first new (released) code in 20 years or so? Nice, now give in to your urges and create a beautiful counterpart so the universe is in balance again ;-)

Stepping out of your comfortzone, no? I actually think it looks designy, it must be the purple background or something. Nice sideborder DYSP on rastersplit. %)

@PAL: I was considering flashing outlines and even using an ugly 2x2 charset for the "presents" thing.
I got bored though, and I was running the risk of making it not-quite-ugly, ie the background color used to be black, which resulted in a much uglier and more '87 result.
Doing graphics for this was hell: no color ramps, no shading, no nothing. None of my old tricks. I spent four days on the sprite "font", discovering "bugs" in it every time.

Yep, it's ugly. Shitty grey dot bars, awful coder colors. *BUT* it has sideborder!!! Claculating: Anonymous upvote granted. 10/10 ;-)

The coolest! I love it! If I could suggest something it would to flash and fade the outline of the scroller a bit so it is more readable and have a flash now and then, maybe in beat with the tune... then it is maybe a winner for me! WOW I love it all the way back to my youth years! :-)

I tried to make it as ugly as possible, but at some point I failed (ie some coder-colors didn't look that horrible)

And also: I love this tune, the ugliness is purely meant for the graphics/design.

I expected real shit! But to be honest...i like it. This raster playing feels to me like oldschool meets modern design. :)
