Ian was right, the raster interrupt is pre-triggered already so the interrupt is fired immediately and not on the right raster line once it's enabled.

The crash happens because the second part of the stable raster interrupt does not run on the next raster line in case the first interrupt happened in the lower border (256+). Instead the second interrupt is re-executed within itself (there's a fall through) and the TXS messes up the stack pointer.

The fix is to clear pending interrupts before enabling them as it was suggested. So it's not emulator versions, cartridges, CIA. Most of the time this mistake is less fatal and only causes screen glitches on start.
