So many enjoyable effects and tomfoolery true oldskool ‘scene spirit… everything keeps this prod rolling along so smoothly it’s part video art / short film / parody / demo. Great fun. 10+ | User Comment Submitted by Saphir on 25 December 2020
Damn fine demo with many cool parts :) | User Comment Submitted by anonym on 17 February 2020
Incredible seeing this type of cooperation between so many talented groups. And I love the humour in it as well, great stuff. Very nice to see all of this friendly cooperation/"coopetition" in the scene these days. Thanks! | User Comment Submitted by Raistlin on 10 May 2019
Thanks everyone, it was definitely a lot of fun working on this demo... it’s the first co-op demo i’ve worked on, actually.
Funny to see the rivalry spilling out of the demo and into the hearts of some of the CSDB community (I guess that means it worked) ;-) .. can’t wait to see the comeback from Mixer - hopefully he’ll come back to do something to rival the glory days of Origo :-) | User Comment Submitted by Yogibear on 26 April 2019 User Comment Submitted by Smasher on 24 April 2019
wow, a mega-gangbang of 5 groups! and the result is outstanding: great gfx, great zax, great coding!!
my personal fav part is the all border dypp!
and that medicore thing the best comment! :) | User Comment Submitted by DKT on 23 April 2019
Very nice cooperation with a funny motif :D
Gfx and msx are so amazing! Great dypp, "morphing" of a woman's face and all the rest ...
Thanks for a great C64 demo at Revision.
Keep taking your medicines guys to live as long as possible ;) | User Comment Submitted by Magic on 23 April 2019 User Comment Submitted by Magic on 22 April 2019
November 2020 is where the real friendly rilvary will be.
Fresh, original designed demo! | User Comment Submitted by Radiant on 22 April 2019
Don't see much rivalry here, but plenty of cooperation...
I think it was a nice demo all in all, with some good effects and tunes, but it feels like this mutual admiration thing you seem to have got going probably is more fun for you than it is for the audience.
Looking forward to some actual Rivalry in the future. | User Comment Submitted by Carrion on 22 April 2019
What Walt said.
+
all that made in, what??? 3-4 months? ... after X?
And as you Mixer noticed (and for me it was most important part)
It was SO MUCH FUN to do and work with all the guys involved
One more comment from my side would be to kind of agree with Yazoo.
I had mixed feelings about this but when Trap introduced me to the idea of demoparts making fun of other groups demoparts and all that in a welcoming atmosphere with great people, funny chats on Slack. I was all in.
I can't wait to do next 25+ artists coop demo ;) but first... X2020 ;)
Don't you think The Performers vs The Seniors could be nice battle ;)
ps.
Thanks for nice comments. | User Comment Submitted by Walt on 22 April 2019
@Mixer : I'm not sure that I would classify this as a "4 chord pop song". You may be right that there may not be any revolutionary new routines in here. That is mostly because of the theme "Rivalry".
Examples:
I created a part that Bob would typically do (the colorcycle scroller) but put it in upper and lower border.
Raistlin re-did two of Rickys routines (the DYPP and the Star Wars scroller) and improved the DYPP.
The friendly mockery and attribution is the main theme and in that regard I think it works very well :) | User Comment Submitted by Mixer on 22 April 2019
There is nothing wrong with the demo. Artistry is 1st class, but overall it is a sequence of a pretty picture on a recycled effect and some forgettable music, then repeat. I mean, astronauts drink recycled piss, it may be high tech but it still piss. To mask piss as "rivalry" is just an attempt to hide the truth behind some clever propaganda. And the audience just quaffs it all like it is the cum of God! Well done! The artists involved have done more surprising, dramatic and progressive stuff in the past. This is a demo equivalent of a four chord pop song. Do you want this to be the future of demos? Anyway, ppl do demos for fun, so I hope some critique does not lessen the fun of doing this demo which has nothing wrong with it. | User Comment Submitted by hedning on 22 April 2019
Laxity: You and Stinsen should get a room. I mean it. The baby produced would be something special! <3 | User Comment Submitted by Laxity on 22 April 2019 User Comment Submitted by Dr.Science on 22 April 2019
Watching this live at Revision was great! Thanks for the show :-) | User Comment Submitted by FATFrost on 22 April 2019
That fli effect scrolled thing is amazing!! But can we have a bit more exploration of it in a single part demo? | User Comment Submitted by Doc Strange on 22 April 2019 User Comment Submitted by Roysterini on 22 April 2019
My love affair with the C64 has been on shaky ground this last couple of years, but this demo warmed my cockles.
Great stuff. | User Comment Submitted by spider-j on 21 April 2019
Yep, Medicore! Is it made by doctors or for doctors or do you need a prescription to enjoy? Who knows? :-P | User Comment Submitted by Stinsen on 21 April 2019 User Comment Submitted by Shine on 21 April 2019
Great graphics and solid demo imho! I enjoyed it very much! :D | User Comment Submitted by Pad on 21 April 2019
MOAR MEDICORE!!!!11ONE$0B | User Comment Submitted by Mibri on 21 April 2019
I’m sorry, but if you don’t love this, you don’t love the Commodore 64.
It’s so inspiring to see you dumb old geezers kicking each other’s arses while rocking together in this way. Neat effects, lush pixels, groovy tunes, a little bit of fight, and a lot of love for the greatest machine ever to exist. An instant classic, in my view. Thank you to all involved for such a perfect Easter gift for a C64 scene fan like me. | User Comment Submitted by Bitbreaker on 21 April 2019
Bob not here at Revision to have a beer with a real performer :-( | User Comment Submitted by Jammer on 21 April 2019 User Comment Submitted by Dr.j on 21 April 2019
@Mixer: you were joking right?! | User Comment Submitted by Walt on 21 April 2019
@Mixer: According to the chatroom comments and the crowd response during and after showing this at Revision, the dead of the C64 as a demo platform seems quite exaggerated ;) | User Comment Submitted by Mixer on 21 April 2019
Recycled effects, medicore music and too classic graphics motifs. Well done, but perhaps c-64 is a dead demo platform. | User Comment Submitted by YPS on 21 April 2019
Great sense of humor and impressive in every aspect - you are indeed the real performers :) | User Comment Submitted by Sixx on 21 April 2019
Like grip said, fresh and fun. | User Comment Submitted by Yazoo on 21 April 2019
awesome. i'm not a big fan of those mega-cooperations with like 1000 ppl involved (not anymore, been there, done that). but here 5 groups bring us a wonderful release. thumbs up! love it! | User Comment Submitted by ChristopherJam on 21 April 2019
Oh this is excellent. Particularly liked that all borders DYPP, but really this was nice work all the way through.
Good to see the opening transition respects random d800 values too :) | User Comment Submitted by DJ Gruby on 21 April 2019
10/10 is too low of a rating for this one. It should have unlocked 11 point votes on CSDb. | User Comment Submitted by Zaphod on 21 April 2019
Fantastic! Eye candy all the way! Love you guys.. I can die as a happy old man now! | User Comment Submitted by grip on 21 April 2019
