Some info on the displayer code I was allowed to do for this absolutely brilliant piece of art: the sprite layer for the black outlines consists of 7 x-expanded sprites and there are two different layers, one for each frame. Interlacing is done in a 1-pixel-offset-style, but only the sprite layers are laced. The Hires-picture underneath is the same in both frames as are the upper/lower border sprites though the code structure allows for frame-specific gfx-data.

One tricky part was to get the timing right so we have border colour splits with 7 active sprites! A precise look at those border colours reveals that there's no colour-splitting on badlines, which I dare to say is near to impossible with seven sprites active (someone (non-NTSCish!) prove me wrong;)).

The other spot that needed more fiddling was the sprite gfx in rasline $2f. Here we have 3 Hires sprites used for the smoke which are placed damn f**king close to the right sideborder. I ended up resorting sprite data, shuffling register writes, etc.pp., so this part of the gfx is done completely manually codingwise. Had another idea how to do it meanwhile, but did not care to change the code again.

I'm still honoured that Electric asked me to help out, so I tried to do it right. When the 1st preview of the pic was shown to me, I was even more motivated to bring as much as possible of this beauty onto the real c64 screens.

And Ptoing's role is also of utmost importance: he initiated this collab and was all time available to chat about important details.
